A rack and pinion steering system includes a rack housing, a rack bearing, and an adjuster plug. The rack housing defines a rack housing bore extending along an axis. The rack bearing is disposed within the rack housing bore. The rack bearing has a first bearing portion that is biasingly connected to a second bearing portion. The first bearing portion and the second bearing portion extend along the axis between a first rack bearing end and a second rack bearing end. The adjuster plug is disposed within the rack housing bore. The adjuster plug extends along the axis between a first adjuster plug end that engages the second rack bearing and a second adjuster plug end.

The assembly also includes an eccentric sleeve defining a bore containing a portion of the shaft, the eccentric sleeve comprising an upper sleeve segment and a lower sleeve segment that are separate components, the eccentric sleeve defining an opening that the sector teeth extend through.

Electric powered gear assembly for steering system

A steering system includes a steering column for rotation between at least a center position and a range of second positions and defining a central axis. The steering system also includes an actuator assembly in operative communication with the steering column to provide steering assistance, the actuator assembly comprising a pair of plates, each plate including a first helical track and a second helical track. The steering system further includes a spring element arranged with the actuator assembly to bias movement of one of the pair of plates along the central axis to influence the steering column to move to the center position.

An electric power steering drive pulley assembly includes a motor shaft. The pulley assembly also includes a drive pulley coupled to the motor shaft. The drive pulley includes a radial retention portion having an inner diameter defining a first portion of a central opening that the motor shaft is disposed within. The drive pulley also includes an axial retention portion extending in the axial direction from the radial retention portion, the axial retention portion defining a second portion of the central opening that the motor shaft is disposed within, the inner diameter of the axial retention portion in splined engagement with the motor shaft to rotationally couple the drive pulley to the motor shaft, the axial retention portion including a flange protruding radially inwardly from the inner diameter of the axial retention portion to be disposed in a groove of the motor shaft.

A power steering system includes a rack housing arranged to receive a longitudinally displaceable rack member. The system also includes an assist cover connected to the rack housing, the rack housing and the assist cover defining a cavity. The system further includes an assist assembly at least partially disposed within the cavity. The assist assembly includes a power pack connected to at least one of the rack housing and the assist cover, the power pack having a power pack shaft extending therefrom. The assist assembly also includes a drive pulley having a drive pulley shaft that extends between the rack housing and the assist cover, the drive pulley shaft and the power pack shaft separate shafts and operatively coupled to each other. The assist assembly further includes a driven pulley disposed about the rack member.

A power steering assembly is provided. The power steering assembly may include a housing, a first bearing, a second bearing, a worm, and a worm gear. The first bearing is disposed within the housing and defines a first central axis. The second bearing is disposed within the housing and defines a second central axis offset from the first central axis. The first bearing and the second bearing are arranged with the housing such that the second bearing is movable to align the first central axis with the second central axis responsive to a load applied to the second bearing.

A rack and pinion steering system includes a housing, a rack, a pinion gear, and a radially preloaded rack bearing. The rack is supported by the housing, and the pinion gear is meshed to the rack. The radially preloaded rack bearing is supported and preloaded to the housing and is preloaded to the rack.
