A multifunctional organosilicon compound is provided which has the general formula XSi([OSiR]p-0-SiRY)a(R)— ln the formula, X is selected from H and ethylenically un saturated moieties; each Y independently comprises a functional moiety selected from alkoxysilyl moieties, acryloxy moieties, and epoxide moieties; each R is an independently selected hydrocarbyl group; each R1 is an independently selected hydrocarbyl group; subscript a is 1, 2, or 3; and each subscript b is independently 0, 1, or 2. A method of preparing the multifunctional organosilicon compound is also provided. The method comprises reacting (A) an organosilanol compound and (B) a silane compound having at least two hydrolysable groups. A functionalized siloxane compound prepared from the multifunctional organosilicon compound, a method of preparing the functionalized siloxane compound, and an adhesive comprising the functionalized siloxane compound are also provided.

Multifunctional organosilicon compound and related methods, compounds, and compositions

A composition contains an organopolysiloxane having the following average chemical structure: XSiO&#x2014;SiR&#x2014;R'&#x2014;(RSiO)&#x2014;RSi&#x2014;[R&#x2014;(RSiO)&#x2014;RSi&#x2014;R&#x2014;(RSiO)&#x2014;RSi]&#x2014;R&#x2032;&#x2014;RSiO&#x2014;SiX; where X is &#x2014;OSiR&#x2014;R&#x2032;&#x2014;RSiO&#x2014;RSi&#x2014;R&#x2033;-A; R is an alkyl group having from 2 to 6 carbons and aryl groups; R&#x2032;, R&#x2033;, Rand Rare divalent hydrocarbon groups comprising a chain of 2 to 6 methylene units; A is acrylate, methacrylate or trialkoxysilyl; provided that, on average, 60 to 90 mole-percent of the A groups are acrylate and methacrylate; Subscript m has an average value in a range of zero to 10; Subscripts x, y and z each has an average value in a range of zero to 1200; and provided that the average values of m, x, y and z are such that the sum of the average values for x, y and z is in a range of 300-1200 and the molar ratio of methylene units to siloxane units is less than 0.15.

Dual cure adhesive composition and methods for its preparation and use

A fluid composition comprises I) a first component and II) second component different from the first component I). The first component I) comprises at least one copolymer. The copolymer can include a cross-linked siloxane (e.g. a cross-linked aminosiloxane), a silicone polyether copolymer (e.g. an (AB)silicone polyether copolymer), and/or a saccharide siloxane copolymer. The second component II) comprises an organopolysiloxane resin (e.g. an MQ resin) and/or an acrylate copolymer. The fluid composition can further comprise a carrier fluid, such as a silicone, an organic solvent, and/or an organic oil. The fluid composition may have a viscosity of at least 100 mPa&#xb7;s at 23&#xb0; C. and exhibit pituitous rheological properties (generally determined from a plot of normal force (in Pascals) vs a perpendicular shear rate in (sec)). Also disclosed is a personal care composition that comprises the fluid composition.

A method can selectively prepare a compound of formula (IV), where each Rand each Rare independently selected from an alkyl group, an aryl group, a halogenated alkyl group, or a halogenated aryl group of 6 to 10 carbon atoms each Ris an alkane-diyl group, and each Ris hydrogen or an alkyl group. The method involves hydrosilylation of an organohydrogensiloxane oligomer with a carboxylic acid alkenyl ester using an iridium complex catalyst.

A pituitous silicone fluid includes a hydrosilylation reaction product and a carrier fluid. The hydrosilylation reaction product is the reaction product of a first linear organopolysiloxane and a second linear organopolysiloxane. The first linear organopolysiloxane includes (RRRSiO) and (RRSiO) units. Each of R-Ris independently a hydrocarbon group so long as at least one of R1-R5 is an alkenyl group. In addition, the first linear organopolysiloxane has a degree of polymerization of from 100 to 15,000. The second linear organopolysiloxane includes (RRRSiO) and (RRSiO) units. Each of R-Ris independently a hydrocarbon group, polyether group, siloxane group, or polyol group, so long as at least one of R-Ris a hydrogen atom. In addition, the second linear organopolysiloxane has a degree of polymerization of from 4 to 1,000. The hydrosilylation reaction product includes alkenyl or Si&#x2014;H functionality. Personal care compositions can include the pituitous silicone fluid.

Pituitous silicone fluid

A cross-linked aminosiloxane polymer includes a first siloxane backbone, a second siloxane backbone, and at least one intramolecular structure cross-linking a silicon atom of the first siloxane backbone and a silicon atom of the second siloxane backbone. The intramolecular structure has the chemical structure: (I) In Formula (I), X is chosen from the following groups; (II); (III); or (IV). In groups (II), (III), and (IV), each R is independently a C-Chydrocarbon group. Each Ris independently a C-Chydrocarbon group. Each Ris independently a hydrogen atom, OH, a C-Chydrocarbon group, a phenyl group, R'(OR&#x2033;), or R&#x2032;OH. Each of R&#x2032; and R&#x2033; is independently an alkyl group and 'm' is 1 to 3. Moreover, 'a' is 0 or 1. The cross-linked aminosiloxane polymer can be formed by the method of this disclosure.
