A lighting assembly for a luminaire includes a circuit board and light sources arranged on the circuit board. A heat sink is coupled to the circuit board. A solid integrated optical array is coupled to the circuit board. The solid integrated optical array includes solid optical lenses. Each solid optical lens is disposed over a corresponding one of the light sources. Each solid optical lens includes a light guiding body defining a total internal reflection lens and an outer light directing surface. Each solid optical lens is adapted to pass a light beam in a predefined direction to form a beam pattern. Each solid optical lens is configured to maintain a base beam size of light passing therethrough, where the base beam size is less than eleven degrees. A bezel is disposed adjacent to the at least one solid integrated optical array and coupled to the heat sink.

A modular surgical retractor including a handle and a blade. The handle includes a base and a neck. The neck projects from an end of the base to a tail region. The blade includes a head section and a blade member. The head section includes opposing side walls and a floor combining to define a slot sized to receive the neck. The blade member projects from the head section. The blade is removably attached to the handle. In some embodiments, a light source, such as an LED, is disposed within the neck and arranged to emit light along a face of the blade member. Two or more additional blades are provided, each additional blade including the head section and a differently configured blade member.

Modular lighted surgical retractor

In one embodiment, an oral irrigator includes a reservoir, a base configured to support the reservoir, and a button assembly coupled to the base. The button assembly may include a button, a spring coupled to the button, and a seal coupled to the spring. The button may be movable between an original position and an actuation position. The spring may be configured to deform in response to a user input force moving the button from the original position to the actuation position, and to resiliently return the button to the original position in response to cessation of the user input force on the button. The seal may inhibit fluid from entering through the spring into the base.

A modular surgical retractor including a handle and a blade. The handle includes a base and a neck. The neck projects from an end of the base to a tail region. The blade includes a head section and a blade member. The head section includes opposing side walls and a floor combining to define a slot sized to receive the neck. The blade member projects from the head section. The blade is removably attached to the handle. In an attached state, an attachment face of each side wall contacts the end of the base, and the floor contacts the tail region. In some embodiments, a light source, such as an LED, is disposed within the neck and arranged to emit light along a face of the blade member. Two or more additional blades are provided, each additional blade including the head section and a differently configured blade member.

A luminaire comprising a heat sink, a light source and a light guide. The light source is carried by the heat sink and configured to emit a source light. The light source includes a heat spreader having an inner surface and an outer surface, and a plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) carried by a circuit board and disposed generally along an outer peripheral perimeter portion of the inner surface of the heat spreader, and positioned in thermal communication with the heat spreader. The light guide includes a lens with a plurality of optical elements disposed within the lens.

Light guide for low profile luminaire

A luminaire including a housing and a light source carried by the housing. The housing may include a first and second set of light emitting elements and a lens assembly. The lens assembly may include a lens with a first refraction section having a surface smoothness within a first range, and a second refraction section having a surface smoothness within a second range. The lens assembly may include conical frustum light source receiving members located between the light source and the lens. The first and second set of light emitting elements is configured to emit light at a first and second beam angle. The light emitted by the first set and second set of light emitting elements form a combined light with a center beam and gradient wherein the center beam has a greater candle power than the gradient.

Tunable lighting apparatus

A luminaire with a prismatic optic permits the nearly uniform distribution of light about the luminaire. The prismatic optic permits the use of directional light sources, such as light emitting diodes, while maintaining the uniform light distribution. When light emitting diodes are used, the luminaire further includes a heat sink to maintain a desirable operational temperature without negatively affecting the light distribution properties of the luminaire.

A luminaire comprising a heat sink, a light source to emit a source light, a heat spreader having inner and outer surfaces, and LEDs carried by a circuit board and disposed generally along a periphery of the inner surface and positioned in thermal communication therewith. The luminaire comprises a reflector disposed coextensively with the LEDs and comprising an aperture. An outer edge of the aperture defines an inner rim of the reflector. A light guide positioned between the reflector and the light source exhibits a height defined as the distance between the inner surface of the heat spreader and a plane defined by the inner rim of the reflector. The light guide comprises deformations and/or lens portions configured to change the source light into a shaped light that is directed through the aperture. The deformations are characterized by a common shape positioned about a center of the light guide.

An edge lit lighting device including a housing, a power circuit, a light source, and an optic. The power circuit may be carried by the housing, and adapted to form an electrical connection with an external power source. The light source may be carried by the housing and electrically connected to the power circuit. The optic may be carried by the housing and positioned in optical communication with the light source. The optic may further include a receiving surface positioned adjacent to the light source, and first and second emitting surfaces. The first emitting surface may include a plurality of features configured to redirect light defined as redirected light in a direction of the second emitting surface, the redirected light being emitted from the second emitting surface. The lighting device may further include pluralities of optics of light sources.

A luminaire comprising a heat sink, a light source carried by the heat sink to emit a source light and comprising a heat spreader having inner and outer surfaces and a plurality of LEDs carried by a circuit board and disposed generally along a periphery of the inner surface and positioned in thermal communication therewith. The luminaire comprises a reflector disposed coextensively with the LEDs and comprising an aperture in a medial region thereof, an outer edge of the aperture defining an inner rim of the reflector and a light guide positioned between the reflector and the light source, the light guide characterized by a height defined as the distance between the inner surface of the heat spreader and a plane defined by the inner rim of the reflector, the light guide configured to change the source light into a shaped light that is directed through the aperture.

Low profile luminaire and associated systems and methods

A lighting device for emitting light in selective directions including a light source structure member, a plurality of lighting devices attached to the light source structure member, a controller, a power supply, and an optic carried by the light source structure member and including a plurality of facets. Each light source of the plurality of light sources may be positioned such that light emitted thereby is emitted through a facet of the plurality of facets of the first optic. Each facet of the plurality of facets may be configured to redirect light in a direction that is unique from the other facets of the plurality of facets. Additionally, the controller may be configured to selectively operate each light source of the plurality of light sources. Multiple pairs, or combinations, of light source structure members and optics may be included.

System for directional control of light and associated methods

A light directing apparatus includes an optical substrate having first and second sides, a compound lens outer surface (CLOS) on a first portion of the first side, and first and second protrusions on a second portion of the first side. The CLOS is in optical communication with the second side, the CLOS having mirror image symmetry about a medial plane that contains a centerline of the CLOS. The first protrusion is disposed proximate the CLOS, and in optical communication with the second side. The second protrusion is disposed proximate the first protrusion, and in optical communication with the second side. The first protrusion is disposed between the second protrusion and the CLOS. The first and second protrusions each have a curved apex such that first and second planar section cuts through the optical substrate perpendicular to the medial plane cut twice through each curved apex.
