A method of handling a wind turbine is provided including a nacelle coupled via a yawing system to a tower for protection against high wind load, the method including: supplying a control signal to a yawing actuator of the yawing system, while the nacelle is in a first orientation; exerting, by the yawing actuator, a torque to the nacelle relative to the tower, thereby turning the nacelle to a second orientation being a downwind orientation.

Handling a wind turbine in a severe weather condition

A wind turbine, a method and a control system for aligning a nacelle of a wind turbine with a target yaw angle is provided, wherein the control system includes a detection device configured for detecting at least one parameter indicative of wind forces acting on at least one component of the wind turbine for determining a current yaw angle of the nacelle, and an actuation device configured for manipulating a position of the nacelle until the current yaw angle is aligned with the target yaw angle, wherein the detection device includes at least one first bending moment sensor on a first component, wherein the detection device is configured for determining a bending moment of the first component based on data received from the first bending moment sensor as the at least one parameter indicative of wind forces acting on the at least one component of the wind turbine.

A method of activating and/or deactivating a safe mode of operation of a wind turbine is provided, the method including: receiving at least one measurement signal related to a weather condition; filtering of a measuring signal dependent quantity to obtain a filtered signal, wherein the filtered signal depends on whether the measuring signal dependent quantity and/or filtered signal is increasing or decreasing with time; activating and/or deactivating the safe mode of operation based on the filtered signal.

A reference line () defines a deviation from the pitch axis () and corresponds to a swept shape of the blade () along its length. The viscoelastic material may be located in one or more of: a forward portion (A) of the shell, an aft portion (D) of the shell, pressure and suction side end caps (B) of an internal spar, internal webbing walls (C,E), and a trailing edge core (F).

The rail includes a flexible web that couples the impact rim to the baseplate. A projecting contact surface on the impact rim is laterally offset from at least one bending axis through the flexible web. An impact to the contact surface is offset from the bending axis by a moment arm.

The connector may comprise a crush rib (such as ) extending from at least one side of the body portion and making contact with a vertical wall (such as locating edge ) of a base plate (such as ) of the disc drive. The crush rib ensures that the connector is properly biased to a reference edge and situated in relation to the base plate and the disc drive printed circuit board. An x-y control boss (such as ) prevents the connector from moving in the x-y directions while the crush rib prevents the connector from rotational movement. The connector may also include a rotational boss (such as ) that is inserted into a rotational control hole of the base plate to prevent rotational movement of the connector.

An apparatus and method for reducing deflection of an actuator assembly within a head disc assembly in a disc drive during a mechanical shock event. A snubber is fastened to a stationary portion of the head disc assembly and has a snubber body and two or more snubber arms connected to the snubber body. The adjacent snubber arms form slots therebetween. A portion of the actuator assembly may be inserted into each of the slots whereby the snubber arms will reduce the deflective movement of the actuator assembly during a mechanical shock event.
