A transmitting element for generating a magnetic field for tracking of an object includes a first spiral trace that extends from a first outer origin inward to a central origin in a first direction. A second spiral trace can extend from the central origin outward to a second outer origin in the first direction. The second spiral trace can extend from the central origin to the second outer origin in the first direction. The first spiral trace and the second spiral trace can be physically connected at the central origin to form the fluorolucent magnetic transmitting element and at least a portion of the first spiral trace overlaps at least a portion of the second spiral trace.

A medical device assembly comprises a medical device comprising a shaft having proximal and distal end portions. The device further comprises a sensor at the distal end portion of the shaft that comprises first and second leads extending therefrom to the proximal end portion of the shaft. The device further comprises an electromechanical connector having a plurality of connection points at a first end thereof. First and second of the connection points are electrically connected to the first and second sensor leads, respectively. The connector further comprises an error loop segment electrically coupled to third and fourth connection points. The error loops segment assists in forming a compensation loop that can be used to correct for magnetic noise.

System and method of cancellation of source induced errors

An antenna system and method is provided for communicating with a medical device implanted in a patient. Upper and lower shells join to form an antenna tunnel there between. At least one of the upper or lower shells includes an opening along an edge thereof to form a passage to the antenna tunnel. The upper shell includes an outer patient engaging surface configured to abut against the patient. An antenna assembly includes a substrate and an inductive RF antenna provided on the substrate. The antenna assembly is movable within the antenna tunnel. The substrate includes a stem projecting through the passage. A handle is joined to the stem and is located outside of the antenna tunnel. The antenna assembly is movable within the antenna tunnel in response to adjustment of the handle relative to the upper and lower shells. An electronics circuit is electrically coupled to the antenna and is configured to transmit and receive inductive RF signals to and from the medical device implanted in a patient.

Adjustable antenna system to communicate with an implantable medical device and method for using same

A medical device assembly comprises a medical device comprising a shaft having proximal and distal end portions. The device further comprises a sensor at the distal end portion of the shaft that comprises first and second leads extending therefrom to the proximal end portion of the shaft. The device further comprises an electromechanical connector having a plurality of pins at a first end thereof. First and second of the pins are electrically connected to the first and second sensor leads, respectively, thereby forming a first partial magnetic loop between the first and second pins. The connector further comprises first and second jumpers electrically connecting the first pin and third pins, and second and fourth pins, respectively, thereby forming a second partial magnetic loop. The partial magnetic loops are configured to combine with partial magnetic loops of another connector to form a pair of magnetic noise cancellation loops.

Low leakage current power supply methods, systems, and apparatus are described. In one example, a medical system includes a plurality of medical devices and a power supply configured to provide alternating current (AC) power to the plurality of medical devices. The power supply includes an input configured to receive AC power from an AC power source, an isolated switching power converter coupled to the input to receive the AC power and output AC power, a controller coupled to the isolated switching power converter and configured to control operation of the isolated switching power converter, and an output coupled to the isolated switching power converter to provide the AC power output.

An antenna assembly is configured for use with an external device that is configured to wirelessly communicate with an implantable medical device (IMD). The antenna assembly may include an antenna member pivotally secured to a structure through a feed post, and a fixed tail fixed to the structure. The antenna member may be pivotal between a first orientation in which the antenna member electrically connects to the fixed tail, and a second orientation in which the antenna member is disconnected from the fixed tail. The antenna member and the fixed tail cooperatively operate in a first antenna mode when the antenna member is in the first orientation. The antenna member is configured to operate in a second antenna mode when the antenna member is in the second orientation.

Convertible monopole and inverted-F antenna assembly for use in a medical telemetry system

Techniques are provided for equipping sensing/pacing leads with physiological sensors without requiring additional conductors within the leads. In a bipolar lead example for use with a pacemaker, a sensor is connected between tip and ring conductors of the lead. The sensor is configured to be activated only in response to enhanced pacing pulse (EPPs) having magnitudes or durations greater than typical pacing pulses or in response to impedance detection pulses (IMPs). In a unipolar example, the sensor is connected to the tip conductor and includes an output terminal on the external housing of the lead for providing a return current path to the pacemaker. The sensor of the unipolar lead is likewise configured to respond only to EPPs or IMPs. In other examples, the sensors are configured to be fitted to the external housing of the lead and to derive power from the lead via electromagnetic induction. Still other examples include actuators rather than sensors.
