A system and method for installing, deploying, and recovering a plurality of spacecraft that provides an ease of use and structural stability, and facilitates a standardization of spacecraft design. In embodiments of this invention, threaded rods are arranged orthogonal to a surface of a baseplate, and each spacecraft includes a coupling mechanism that selectively engages or disengages each threaded rod. Each spacecraft is added to the stack by engaging its coupling mechanism and rotating the threaded rods while the preceding spacecraft on the stack disengage their coupling mechanisms, thereby enabling the spacecraft to travel along the threaded rods toward the baseplate. When all the spacecraft are added to the stack, the stack is preloaded by rotating the treaded rods into a terminator component at the top of the stack while the coupling mechanisms in all of the spacecraft are disengaged. Spacecraft are deployed by reversing the process.

System and method to attach and remove space vehicles

After deploying its payload, the final stage of a launch vehicle is maneuvered to couple the nosecone of the launch vehicle to the 'rear', or 'engine-end' of the final stage. The nosecone covers the engine of the final stage, to protect the engine and related components from the heat of re-entry and the impact of landing. Placing the nosecone over the engine and orienting the combination such that the nosecone &#x2018;leads&#x2019; the final stage during re-entry, places the center of gravity of the combination ahead of the center of pressure in the direction of travel. Accordingly, the combination is inherently stable as it re-enters the atmosphere and falls to earth. Parachutes and directional devices are used to provide a controlled soft landing.

Recovery of a final stage of a spacecraft launch vehicle

An auger system having an auger with an internal measurement system that is contained within the auger. The measurement system has a power source located within the auger and a sensor for measuring at least one condition within the auger. The measurement system is connected to the power source and a transmitter is powered by the power source to transmit a signal from the sensor. A receiver receives the signal from the transmitter and is spaced from the transmitter. The signal is then sent to a control system that compares the signal to a predetermined value to determine whether the condition measured is within an acceptable range. The control system may alter inputs into components for moving the auger until said condition is within an acceptable range.

Internal measurement feedback auger system

An auger system has oscillating auger supports. The auger moves through a pile of stored material to move material from one location to another. The auger support may be a hanger that shuttles along the central axis of the auger as the auger rotates. A bearing shaft has cam followers that contact an angled surface on the bearing to slide the bearing back and forth along said central axis when said auger rotates. An alternate support may be a support wheel that rotates about an angled shaft that causes the contact surface of the support wheel to move back and forth with respect to the central axis as the auger rotates. The angled shaft may adjust the amount of oscillation. The oscillating motion of the auger support in combination with synchronized cutters on the auger allows material to be removed from the path of the advancing auger support.

Oscillating auger support

An apparatus for hanging garments is disclosed. The apparatus includes a hanger device, and a substantially rigid support mechanism coupled to the hanger device. The support mechanism includes a slit extending through at least part of the support mechanism, and one or a plurality of button holes on at least one side of the slit, such that when a garment with one or a plurality of buttons is on the hanger device, a side of the garment with the one or a plurality of buttons extends through the slit so that at least one of the one or a plurality of buttons is inserted through at least one of the one or a plurality of button holes.
