A method may include measuring a physical quantity associated with a load driven by an amplifier, generating a windowing function having a variable length and based on a number of samples of the physical quantity to be processed, applying the windowing function to the physical quantity, performing a transform on the physical quantity as filtered by the windowing function, and determining a characteristic of the load based on the transform.

A method for determining sensor parameters of an actively-driven sensor system may include obtaining as few as three samples of a measured physical quantity versus frequency for the actively-driven sensor system, performing a refinement operation to provide a refined version of the sensor parameters based on the as few as three samples and based on a linear model of an asymmetry between slopes of the measured physical quantity versus frequency between pairs of the as few as three samples, iteratively repeating the refinement operation until the difference between successive refined versions of the sensor parameters is below a defined threshold, and outputting the refined sensor parameters as updated sensor parameters for the actively-driven sensor system.

Determination of resonant frequency and quality factor for a sensor system

Circuitry comprising: a voltage monitoring path; a current monitoring path; a reference element of a predefined impedance; and processing circuitry, wherein in operation of the circuitry in a calibration mode of operation: the voltage monitoring path is operative to output a signal indicative of a voltage across the reference element in response to a reference signal applied to the reference element; the current monitoring path is operative to output a signal indicative of a current through the reference element in response to the reference signal; and the processing circuitry is operative to: receive the signal indicative of the voltage across the reference element and the signal indicative of the current through the reference element; generate an estimate of an impedance of the reference element; and determine a compensation parameter for an element of the circuitry for compensating for a difference between the estimate of the impedance and the predefined impedance of the reference element.

Circuitry for compensating for gain and/or phase mismatch between voltage and current monitoring paths

An active noise cancellation (ANC) system including a selectable decimation rate decimator that receives an oversampled digital input and has an input that selects the decimation rate, a filter that receives an output of the decimator, and a selectable interpolation rate interpolator that receives an output of the filter and has an input that selects the interpolation rate. The selectable decimation rate decimator and the selectable interpolation rate interpolator operate to provide a selectable sample rate for the filter based on the selected decimation and interpolation rates. The filter may be an anti-noise filter, feedback filter, and/or a filter that models an acoustic transfer function of the ANC system. Rate selection may be static, or dynamically controlled based on battery or ambient noise level. A ratio of the decimation rate and the interpolation rate is fixed independent of the dynamically controlled decimation and interpolation rates.

Active noise cancellation (ANC) system with selectable sample rates

An integrated circuit may include an output for providing an output signal to a transducer including both a source audio signal for playback to a listener and an anti-noise signal for countering the effect of ambient audio sounds in an acoustic output of the transducer, an ambient microphone input for receiving an ambient microphone signal indicative of the ambient audio sounds; an error microphone input for receiving an error microphone signal indicative of the output of the transducer and the ambient audio sounds at the transducer; and a processing circuit that implements a feedback path having a feedback response that generates a feedback anti-noise signal from the error microphone signal, wherein a signal gain of the feedback path is a function of the ambient microphone signal, and wherein the anti-noise signal comprises at least the feedback anti-noise signal.

Feedback howl management in adaptive noise cancellation system

A controller for an adaptive noise canceling (ANC) system simplifies the design of a stable control response by making the ANC gain of the system independent of a secondary path extending from a transducer of the ANC system to a sensor of the ANC system that measures the ambient noise. The controller includes a fixed filter having a predetermined fixed response, and a variable filter coupled together. The variable response filter compensates for variations of a transfer function of a secondary path that includes at least a path from a transducer of the ANC system to a sensor of the ANC system, so that the ANC gain is independent of the variations in the transfer function of the secondary path.

Feedback adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) controller and method having a feedback response partially provided by a fixed-response filter

In accordance with systems and methods of this disclosure, a method may include generating a feedforward anti-noise signal component from a result of measuring with the reference microphone countering the effects of ambient audio sounds at an acoustic output of a transducer by filtering an output of the reference microphone, adaptively generating a feedback anti-noise signal component from a result of measuring with an error microphone for countering the effects of ambient audio sounds at the acoustic output of the transducer by adapting a response of a feedback adaptive filter that filters a synthesized reference feedback to minimize the ambient audio sounds in the error microphone signal, wherein the synthesized reference feedback is based on a difference between the error microphone signal and the feedback anti-noise signal component.
