A phase module for a power converter includes first and second busbars and at least two semiconductor modules. The first busbar is connected to AC voltage connections of the semiconductor modules. The second busbar is connected to DC voltage connections of the semiconductor modules. At least one section of the first and second busbars is arranged at a distance to one another, the value of which is less than half the value of the distance between the AC voltage connection and the DC voltage connection of one of the semiconductor modules. At least one of the busbars has a separator arranged at a right angle on the remaining part of the busbar and connecting the busbar to at least one of the DC voltage connections or one of the AC voltage connections of one of the semiconductor modules. The separator is arranged along a surface of the one semiconductor module.

Phase module for a power converter

A control device for driving a bipolar switchable power semiconductor component is designed to apply an electrical voltage to a gate terminal of the power semiconductor component and to reduce the electrical voltage for turning off the power semiconductor component from a first voltage value to a second voltage value. The control device is designed, for turning off the power semiconductor component, firstly to reduce the electrical voltage from the first voltage value to a desaturation value and then to reduce the electrical voltage from the desaturation value to the second voltage value. The desaturation value is greater than a pinch-off voltage of the power semiconductor component.

Control device for driving a bipolar switchable power semiconductor component, semiconductor module and method

In a method for balancing an energy storage system, a capacitance of capacitive storage modules of a series circuit of capacitive storage modules is determined. The capacitive storage modules are connected to a balancing device to allow control of a charge of each of the capacitive storage modules via a flow of current between the balancing device and the capacitive storage modules. For each of the capacitive storage modules a module charge is determined from a voltage of the capacitive storage module and a predefined balancing voltage. A reference charge is determined from the module charges of the capacitive storage modules, and a balancing charge is determined for each of the capacitive storage modules from the reference charge and the module charge of the capacitive storage module. The charge of the capacitive storage modules is controlled by exchanging the balancing charge between the capacitive storage module and the balancing device.

Method for symmetrizing an energy storage system

A busbar arrangement for making electrical contact with a semiconductor module includes at least two busbars overlapping in an overlap region and electrically insulated from one another. Each busbar includes a web having a connection element, with the webs of the busbars being arranged without an overlap. The webs are oriented such as to define a first axis which runs through the connection element of an associated one of the webs and a point of a transition of the web to the overlap region of the busbar arrangement, and which intersects a second axis which is formed by a connection between two connection elements of the webs at an angle between 0&#xb0; and 45&#xb0;. The busbar arrangement includes an insulating region to reduce or prevent a current in the web in a direction perpendicular to the second axis. The overlap region and the webs are each located in one plane.

Busbar arrangement

The invention relates to a method for transmitting an actuation signal and a first data signal between a control device and an actuation device of a power semiconductor device. To minimize the expenditure for the operation of the physical transmission channels and the costs for the laying of the physical connection between control device and actuation device, the transmission of the actuation signal and the first data signal between the control device and the actuation device takes place simultaneously and via a common transmission channel, wherein the first data signal is combined with the actuation signal by means of a digital modulation method or coding method. A feedback signal and second data signal are transmitted in the opposite direction. A first coding length is shorter than the interval length of the actuation signal. A second coding length is shorter than the interval length of the feedback signal.

Transmission of actuation signals and data signals

Improved energy storage apparatus that is compact and less expensive is disclosed. High-voltage lines are no longer required, and heat energy can be simply dissipated from each storage module in the apparatus. A switchable inductive balancing element is electrically connected in parallel with each storage cell in each storage module, through which energy or electrical charge can be shifted among the individual storage cells in each storage module using suitably designed magnetic circuits. A power resistor and a module switch are electrically connected in parallel with the series circuit formed by the storage cells in of each storage module and the switchable inductive cell balancing elements in each module are magnetically coupled to a single switchable inductive module balancing element in the module, or each is magnetically coupled to a switchable inductive balancing element of a respective transformer.
