A closure tab is provided and includes a first substrate. A second substrate is adhesively attached to the first substrate. The second substrate has mechanical closure material formed thereon. A compression bond pattern is applied to the first substrate and the second substrate. The compression bond pattern includes at least one outwardly extending protrusion. The compression bond pattern may include, for example, circular bond points, stripes, or a decorative element. A method is also provided wherein the second substrate is compressed onto the first substrate by a patterned roller. The second substrate may be compressed onto the first substrate by a plurality of pins spaced in alternating offset rows.

Method of manufacturing closure tabs for absorbent articles

An economical and disposable cleaning tool which may be prepared by a simplified manufacturing process involving a reduced number of steps. The cleaning tool includes a cleaning pad and a handle, the cleaning pad having a pocket for receiving the a handle. The cleaning pad may be provided with a top sheet and a fiber bundle. The top sheet is folded over and bonded to provide a cleaning portion and a back portion, and the fiber bundle is disposed on the cleaning portion. The cleaning portion and the back portion of the folded sheet are bonded together forming the pocket for a handle to be disposed therein. The handle may include a hinge to enable the handle to be repeatedly folded over for convenient storage or easily extended for use.

The present invention discloses an economical and disposable cleaning tool which may be prepared by a simplified manufacturing process involving a reduced number of steps. Absorbent garment

An elastic assembly for absorbent garments having a first carrier layer, a second carrier layer, and an elastic layer attached between the first and second carrier layers to impart elasticity to an elasticized portion of the elastic assembly. The elastic layer is made of elastic strands having a decitex of about 600 or less. The elastic strands are arranged generally in parallel with one another and with a spacing of about 1 to about 10 elastic strands per centimeter. The elasticized portion of the elastic assembly has a thickness of about 2.6 mm or less at a pressure of 0.05 p.s.i. and about 8 or more corrugations per centimeter when in an elastically relaxed state. The first and second carrier layers are attached to one another in the elasticized portion substantially only by a coating of adhesive on the elastic strands. Absorbent garments incorporating the elastic assembly and a method of making the elastic assembly are also provided.

The combination of a package and plural absorbent pads, e.g., pantiliners. Each of the pads is an elongated generally planar member having a body engaging surface and an opposed liquid barrier surface. Each of the pads is folded along a line extending transversely to the long dimension of the pad so that its body engaging surface forms the inner surface of the folded pad and its liquid barrier surface forms the outer surface of the folded pad. The folded pads are stacked on top of one another. The package can be of various shapes, e.g., a pouch, a parallelepiped gusseted member, etc., and is formed of a flexible sheet material, e.g., a plastic film. It has a hollow interior into which the stack of pads is located. The package includes an openable mouth, e.g., a weakened or breakable line in a portion of the material making up the package, two overlapping edges of the material making up the package, etc., that is located immediately adjacent the stack of pads so that the user can grasp one of the pads to remove it from the package through the openable mouth. The folded pads may be stacked one atop another within the package with the fold line of each pad being located closely adjacent the fold line of the other pads, and with the openable mouth located closely adjacent the fold lines of the stack so that the user can grasp one of the pads at its fold line to remove it from the package through the openable mouth. Alternatively the stack of folded pads may be interleaved so that removal of one pad from the package brings a portion of another pad to the location of the openable mouth to facilitate the removal of that other pad from the package, when desired.

A disposable absorbent article, e.g., a diaper, and a method of making it. The article is arranged to be worn by a wearer to trap and collect fluid waste products, e.g., urine, of the wearer. The article has a flexible chassis and plural tabs for holding the diaper in place on the wearer. The chassis is made up of a top-sheet, a fluid acquisition system, and a fluid absorbent core. The top sheet is formed of a fluid pervious material, e.g., a fibrous material. The core includes fast acting fluid absorbing material, e.g., fluff, and a slow acting fluid absorbing and retaining material, e.g., SAP. The fluid acquisition system comprises a first fluid acquisition layer formed of apertured polymeric, e.g., three dimensional, film and a second fluid acquisition layer, e.g., a fibrous material, secured together and located between the top-sheet and the core, with the first fluid acquisition layer facing the top-sheet and the second fluid acquisition layer facing the core. The fluid acquisition system serves to facilitate the transference of fluid into the core, e.g., spread out the fluid over the core and providing it to the core at a rate at which the materials of the core can accommodate. The first and second acquisition layers may be joined or bonded together via various techniques, such as by adhesives, ultrasonic bonding, heat sealing, hot knife-slitting, hydroentanglement, physical stitching or sewing, etc.
