Tomato plants exhibiting fruit with increased BRIX content are provided, together with methods of producing, identifying, or selecting plants or germplasm with an increased BRIX phenotype and lacking undesirable leaf necrosis. Such plants include tomato plants comprising introgressed genomic regions conferring increased BRIX without necrosis. Compositions, including novel polymorphic markers for detecting plants comprising introgressed alleles providing increased BRIX without necrosis, are further provided.

Tomato plants with improved traits

The present disclosure provides cultivated tomato plants exhibiting increased resistance to Mi-1 resistance-breaking root-knot nematodes. Such plants comprise novel recombinant chromosomal segments comprising alleles associated with disease resistance fromon chromosome 1 and/or chromosome 6. In certain aspects, compositions and methods for producing, breeding, detecting, and selecting plants or germplasm with an increased disease resistance phenotype are provided.

Tomato plants with resistance to Mi-1 resistance-breaking root-knot nematodes

The invention provides novel methods to genotype haploid embryos using molecular assays. For example, quantitative methods for genotyping are provided. The methods provided also include providing a plurality of haploid kernels, determining the genotype of the haploid embryo of said kernels by distinguishing its genotype from the endosperm genotype, selecting a kernel having a desired genotype and producing doubled haploid plant from the selected kernel.

The present disclosure provides tomato plants exhibiting improved fruit quality and disease resistance. Such plants may comprise novel introgressed genomic regions associated with improved fruit quality or disease resistance. In certain aspects, compositions, including novel polymorphic markers and methods for producing, breeding, identifying, and selecting plants or germplasm with an improved fruit quality or disease resistance phenotype are provided.
