The present invention relates to methods and arrangements for handling unreliable scheduling grants in a WCDMA-communication system. A user equipment detects that a received scheduling grant is unreliable and adjust its serving grant based on that information. The user equipment is also able to report continuously received unreliable grants as an event to the network, allowing the network to adapt its operation to reduce the unreliable grants.

Methods and arrangements for handling unreliable scheduling grants in a telecommunication network

The invention relates to a method for reducing interference between users in a mobile communications network () in which uplink transmissions from user equipment, UE (), to a radio base station, RBS (A,B), can be performed on at least two different carriers (C, C). The UE () support dynamic switching between CDM and TDM transmission mode and the RBS (A,B) is arranged to dynamically set the mode of transmission for the UE (). The method comprises the steps of: &#x2014;identifying (S) at least a first UE as a high data rate, HDR, UE currently requiring high data transmission rate; dedicating (S) at least one of said at least two carriers (C, C) to said HDR UE for at least a first period of time (T), said at least one carrier (C, C) hereinafter being named clean carrier, and&#x2014;allocating (S) said at least first HDR UE to said clean carrier (C, C) during said at least first period of time (T). This method ensures that no UE operating in CDM mode is transmitting on the same carrier at the same time as the HDR UE.

Method and apparatus for reducing interference in a mobile communications network

In a cellular radio system, the number of TDM users per cell is limited. The cellular radio system can be a WCDMA system and in particular a WCDMA system employing an Enhanced Uplink (EUL). Other users in the cell are scheduled using CDM scheduling.

Scheduling method

The invention relates to a scheduling of data transmissions in multi-carrier data transmission systems, e.g. multi-carrier W-CDMA systems. A method embodiment of performing one or more data transmissions in a multi-carrier data transmission network () comprises, in a transmitting device (), the steps of requesting transmission resources from a resource granting device (); receiving, in response to the request (), one or more transmission grants (gr-gr) from the resource granting device (), wherein each transmission grant (gr) indicates a data rate (dr) and a data class (CI) granted for a specific transmission carrier (Cr); and initiating one or more transmissions (-) of data associated with one or more of the granted data classes on one or more of the granted transmission carriers.

Scheduling of data transmissions in multi-carrier data transmission networks

The present invention relates to a method for allocating communication bandwidth between a first terminal of a plurality of terminals and a network device. Wireless communication between the first plurality of terminals and the network device is carried out using a plurality of carrier channels. The communication defines a first bandwidth. The method comprises the steps of receiving the request for change of bandwidth from the first terminal, evaluating current load on carrier channels in use by the first terminal, evaluating priority between all terminals using the carrier channels currently in use by the first terminal, evaluating capacity of all carrier channels available to the first terminal, and allocating a second bandwidth between the network device and the first terminal by allocating a new number of carrier channels. The present invention further relates to a network device and a device for communication.

Method for allocating communication bandwidth and associated apparatuses

A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for efficient and flexible usage of bandwidth within a code division multiple access (CDMA) cell. Multiple carriers can be included within a CDMA cell, in which a different number of carriers can be allocated to downlink transmissions and uplink transmissions. In addition, a mobile station (MS) can allocate downlink bandwidth from different carriers to contribute to a Traffic channel, making it possible to form high user bit-rates, e.g., 4 Mbps. A CDMA cell can contain a Primary carrier with all channel types and at least one Secondary carrier with only dedicated channels and optionally power controlled common channels. The Primary carrier has a primary scrambling code and zero or more secondary scrambling codes associated therewith, while the Secondary carrier has one or more secondary scrambling codes associated therewith.

System and method for implementing multiple carriers in cellular networks

A system and method for allocating system resources to provide a selected quality of service in connection with data communications. A mobile user station requests a first quality of service level for a data communication session. In response to a determination that system resources for providing the first quality of service level are unavailable, the system assigns resources for providing a second quality of service level for the data communication session. Thereafter, during the communication session, the system monitors the availability of system resources. If system resources for providing the first quality of service level become available, the system allocates the system resources for use by the user station and upgrades or downgrades the communication session accordingly.

Dynamic upgrade of quality of service in a packet switched network

A base transceiver station for a mobile communications system is disclosed, which is divided into a plurality of functional units that enables the signal processing resources to be flexibly allocated and cost-effectively implemented in hardware. A flexible communications interface is created between the base transceiver station units which allows the signal processing resources within the units to be used more efficiently. Essentially, the base transceiver station hardware is dimensioned to statistically distribute the signal processing resources among the different radio transmission services available. Consequently, the allocated base transceiver station hardware can be used more efficiently, which minimizes the overall size and weight of the base station.
