An axial flow harvesting machine having at least one generally cylindrical rotor rotatably mounted within a casing and operable, in conjunction with the casing, to thresh and separate grain from straw material, and a plurality of mounting members permanently provided at predetermined positions over the periphery of the rotor is disclosed wherein the height of each mounting member is less than the height of crop operating members mountable thereon for operation on the straw material in use of the machine to thresh and separate grain therefrom.

An axial flow combine harvester feed plate assembly for directing crop material from an elevator into a longitudinally extending threshing and separating rotor is disclosed wherein the feed plate assembly includes a surface extending upwardly and rearwardly to a junction with an arcuate surface to direct the mat of crop material being conveyed by the elevator in a linear path into a spirally extending flow path around the threshing and separating rotor. For axial flow harvesters having a pair of threshing and separating rotors, the feed plate includes a central divider member and a pair of transversely spaced side members providing an infeed configuration that eliminates dead spots in the transition of the flow of crop material from the elevator to the threshing and separating rotors to provide a smooth and efficient harvesting operation.

An adjustment mechanism to affect a change in the size of openings through a sieve in a combine harvester is disclosed wherein the handle for actuating the sleeve adjustment is positioned above the surface of the sieve to permit an ease and convenience of access. The handle is pivotally connected to a pivot member and movable between a retracted position in which the handle presents a streamlined profile to minimize obstruction to the flow of crop material thereover and an actuating position in which an engagement pin in said handle is engageable with a notch formed in the upper surface of the pivot member to permit the handle to actuate movement of the pivot member, which in turn is transferred into a fore-and-aft motion of a slat connection member interconnecting the sieve slats to be adjusted to affect a pivotal movement thereof. The adjusted position of the sieve slats is maintained by a combination of the friction between the friction disks and the pivot member and a clamping force of a spring clip retaining the handle in its retracted position.

Combine sieve adjustment mechanism

An improved concave extension for use with an arcuate concave cooperable with a threshing and separating rotor in an axial flow combine is disclosed wherein the sub-frame assembly of the concave extension is provided with a mounting clevis rotatably engageable with one of two mounting pins extending from the concave frame members to permit the concave extension to be rotated relative to the concave frame members. The subframe assembly is also provided with a hole therein alignable with a plurality of openings in the respective concave frame members to permit the use of a fastener extending through the hole in one of the aligned openings to fix the position of the concave extension relative to the concave frame members, thereby providing variable configurations of the rub bars on the concave extension relative to the rub bars of the concave. A filler plate is rotatably mounted to the forwardmost concave frame member and positionable relative to both the concave frame member and the concave extension. The concave extension and filler plate are easily positionable and/or removable by manipulation of two bolts interengaging the sub-frame assembly and the respective concave frame members.
