A door assembly for a light fixture that includes a door frame formed of two opposing frame sides connected to two opposing frame ends that collectively form an opening and define a door frame plane. A reflector is positioned within the door frame to span the opening and to extend downwardly through the door frame plane such that at least a portion of the reflector extends below the door frame plane.

A door assembly for a lighting fixture. Embodiments of the door assembly include a door frame defined by two frame sides and two frame ends that define a frame opening. A diffuser panel is positioned within the door frame to span the frame opening and a refractor extends along the length of the door frame. The refractor is retained on the door assembly at its ends. More specifically, in some embodiments an aperture having the profile of the refractor is provided in the end plate on each frame end. The ends of the refractor are inserted into the apertures of the end plates to retain the refractor on the door assembly by its ends.

Door assembly for a light fixture having a diffuser and refractor and method of assembling the same

A light fixture includes a door frame, the door frame having at least one frame side and a reflector. The edge of the reflector engages a slot in the frame side, which includes at least one LED, to precisely position the reflector and the at least one LED relative to one another. The at least one frame side may also include a reflective kicker for reflecting light from the at least one LED onto the reflector. The reflector may include a semi-specular optical material, which specularly reflects some of the incoming light from the at least one LED and diffusely reflects other of the incoming LED light. The reflector may be collapsible for ease of transportation and shipping; the at least one frame side precisely positions the reflector and at least one LED during assembly and installation.

A ceiling mount lighting fixture includes a channel, a channel cover, and a light source including a plurality of light-emitting diodes. The channel cover includes two sides that intersect in a V-shaped base, with light-emitting diodes mounted on each side. The light-emitting diodes emit light at cone angles that overlap at the base of the channel cover. The fixture may include a diffuser and an end cap positioned on each end of the channel, each end cap including a groove. A plurality of strips may be located on the diffuser, each strip moveable from a first position on the diffuser a distance from the end caps to a second position in which the strip engages the groove on one of the end caps, thereby serving as a light trap to block light from exiting gaps between the diffuser and end caps.

Described are strip lighting fixtures having a channel defined by a base plate and two side walls, end plates located at each end of the channel, and a channel cover that snap-fits onto the channel. The channel side walls include at least one gripper indentation that releasably engages with at least one tong hanger hook via a snap-fit connection to attach the strip fixture to a support structure. As examples, the tong hangers include hooker clips that connect the tong hanger to a support structure, and the channel cover is contoured to provide additional spacing or relief areas to avoid pinched wires when the channel cover is connected to the channel.

Surface mounted lighting fixtures having a troffer channel and a frame that extends around the troffer channel. The troffer channel includes a top wall and side walls. To impart a 'back' to the fixture, the troffer channel is positioned in the frame so that the upper surface of the lighting fixture is defined by the top wall of the troffer channel and so that the fixture is mounted to a ceiling via the top wall of the troffer channel. The side walls of the troffer channel are preferably angled relative to the top wall to reflect light out of the fixture as desired. Tie brackets, lamp holder brackets, electrical components, and traditional louvers and lensed door components may be supported by the lighting fixture. An installation bracket may be provided to facilitate installation of the lighting fixture. Such brackets may be mounted to the ceiling and used to suspend the fixture to allow the installer to perform the necessary wiring and other preparation work prior to securing the fixture directly to the ceiling via the troffer channel.

Retrofit systems for replacing the outdated components of an existing light fixture. The retrofit systems may utilize the previously installed housing of the existing light fixture. The retrofit systems include brackets that are positioned on the ends of the housing. The positioning of the brackets is based off of the ceiling, t-grid, or the bottom of the housing. Lamp sockets with associated lamps, an optional ballast tray with associated ballast, reflector(s), lamps, and a shielding mechanism are all mounted on, and their position in the housing dictated by, the mounting brackets. Thus, regardless of the depth of the housing, the lamps are positioned a uniform distance from the ceiling opening to create consistent light distribution. Moreover, because these components are not directly attached to the housing, their dimensions need not precisely match those of the housing. Rather, the retrofit system can be installed in housings of varying sizes and shapes.

Retrofit light assembly

A mounting system for a member to a support structure. The member includes ends and sides. A hinge may be attached to one of the ends of the member. Hinges may be attached to both ends along the same side of the member. The hinge may include an arm from which a tab extends. The ends may include securing means. The support structure includes a mounting aperture that is configured to interact with the hinge of the member. In some embodiments, the support structure may have multiple mounting apertures. The mounting aperture is configured to prevent the hinge of the member from disengaging from the support structure. In some embodiments, the mounting aperture is configured to pivotally retain the hinge of the member.
