Examples of generating power through the flow of water are disclosed. In one example, remote water meter monitoring system includes an energy converter and a sensor. The energy converter is in fluid connectivity with water flowing through a pipe, the energy convertor being driven by a mechanical energy of water flowing through the pipe to convert the mechanical energy into an electrical energy for charging a battery connected to the energy converter. The sensor detects a level of a property of the water, the sensor being powered by the battery connected to the energy converter.

Systems and methods for generating power through the flow of water

A remote water meter monitoring system is provided. A mesh network-type transceiver unit is coupled to a water meter housing having a water counting mechanism inside to transmit water consumption information as well as other sensor information, such as backflow detection, water pressure, and water metrics (e.g., residual chlorine and temperature) to a central server system via a bridge device and a corresponding mesh network. Mechanical energy from the water flowing through the water meter housing is converted to electrical energy via an energy conversion unit. An electrically powered shut off valve is remote addressable via the transceiver unit.

A low-cost safety valve for gas lines and similar supply lines that can be remotely activated via a secure wireless link employing a low leakage sealing mechanism that is compatible with low energy actuators to for extended battery life. A miniaturized controller and wireless electronics assembly provides the control mechanism for actuating the valve, as well as reporting data regarding the valve status to wireless interrogators or external networks via an ad hoc wireless network. A variety of simple magnetic valve operating mechanisms can be implemented with the miniaturized electronic control circuits and the valve body. Such control actuation mechanisms enable automatic resetting or manual resetting valves. The gas line shut off valve can provide important safety benefits at an affordable price. An RFID transceiver may be included to enable low-power operation and communications using RFID technologies as well as an automatic antenna tuning capability to maximize radio range.

A gypsum board which comprises a set gypsum core sandwiched between and faced with fibrous mats, wherein a free surface of one of said mats is pre-coated with a combination of a mineral pigment, optionally an inorganic adhesive binder and an organic binder, preferably a hydrophobic, UV resistant polymer latex adhesive binder applied to said surface as an aqueous coating composition, said aqueous coating composition upon drying and setting providing a pre-coated mat satisfying certain morphology requirements.

Use of pre-coated mat for preparing gypsum board

A method of making a gypsum panel comprises sandwiching a gypsum slurry between two moving sheets of facing material, one of said sheets comprising a fibrous facing material, curing and drying the gypsum slurry to form a set gypsum panel, applying a coating of a radiation curable formulation, which is essentially free of any unreactive components, onto the fibrous facing material of the set gypsum panel, applying a surface coating of an aggregate material onto the coating of the radiation curable formulation, and curing the coating of the radiation curable formulation with high energy radiation, wherein the radiation curable formulation comprises a high energy radiation curable polymer comprising ethylenically unsaturated double bonds.

Gypsum panel having UV-cured moisture resistant coating and method of making same

A gypsum wallboard suitable for Level 4 finishing having a coated non-woven glass fiber mat facing material where the glass fiber mat has a majority of fibers of a fiber diameter between 8 and 11 microns and a fiber length between &#xbc; and &#xbe; inch and preferably between &#xbc; and &#xbd; inch and preferably has a basis weight between about 0.8 lb./100 ft.and about 2.2 lb./100, and wherein the fibers in the non-woven glass fiber are bound together with an acrylic adhesive binder and wherein the non-woven glass mat has a coating of a dried aqueous mixture of (i) a mineral pigment, (ii) a polymer latex adhesive binder and optionally (iii) an inorganic adhesive binder such that the coated non-woven glass mat facing material has a porosity which allows water to evaporate through said coated mat from the gypsum core during preparation of the wallboard.

Interior wallboard and method of making same

A fibrous mat faced gypsum panel having on at least one of the facing sheets a moisture resistant, cured coating of a radiation curable, e.g., UV curable, polymer.
