A system includes an injector having a scheduling valve assembly and a nozzle in fluid communication with the valve assembly. The scheduling valve assembly is configured for regulation of flow from an inlet of the injector to the nozzle. The injector includes two fluid circuits between the inlet of the injector and two respective outlets of the nozzle for staged flow output from the nozzle. A first one of the two fluid circuits is a primary circuit, and a second one of the two fluid circuits is a secondary circuit. A solenoid valve is connected in fluid communication with the scheduling valve assembly, wherein the solenoid valve is configured to adjust position of a hydromechanical valve spool of the valve assembly.

Proportional force modification of passive spool for control of secondary nozzle circuits

A fuel injector for a turbine engine includes a fuel scheduling valve configured for regulation of fuel flow from a fuel inlet, in response to fuel pressure received at the fuel inlet. Primary, secondary and auxiliary fuel circuits receive fuel from the scheduling valve, and an electrically-controlled valve is provided in fluid communication with the auxiliary circuit, which electrically-controlled valve is adapted and configured to actively control fuel through the auxiliary circuit in response to a control signal. The auxiliary fuel circuit joins with the secondary fuel circuit for delivery to a fuel nozzle.

Proportional restriction of a secondary circuit of a fuel injector

A fuel injector for a turbine engine includes a fuel scheduling valve configured for regulation of fuel flow from a fuel inlet in response to fuel pressure received at the fuel inlet. Primary and secondary fuel circuits receive fuel from the scheduling valve, and an electrically-controlled valve is provided in fluid communication with the primary circuit, adapted and configured to actively control fuel through the primary circuit in response to a control signal.

Variable restriction of a fuel circuit of a fuel nozzle

A fuel injector for a turbine engine includes a fuel scheduling valve configured for regulation of fuel flow from a fuel inlet, in response to fuel pressure received at the fuel inlet. Proportional restriction of fuel nozzle with an auxiliary circuit

A system includes a plurality of injectors each having a respective main circuit configured to be connected in fluid communication with one manifold for supplying fuel to each injector in the plurality of injectors. Each injector in the plurality of injectors includes a respective hydromechanical scheduling valve member configured to regulate fuel flow from a respective inlet to a respective nozzle of each injector of the plurality of injectors as a function of pressure input from the manifold to the respective main circuits. A valve block is connected in fluid communication with a respective auxiliary circuit in each injector in the plurality of injectors. The auxiliary circuit is operatively connected to adjust position of the respective scheduling valve member for actuating force modification of the scheduling valve member. The valve block is configured to control all of the injectors in the plurality of injectors as a block.

Banked force modification for fuel nozzles

A fluid flow arrangement includes a manifold defining a fluid passage. A pressure sensor system is in fluid communication with the fluid passage. The pressure sensor system has a first sensor arranged along a first sense line and a second sensor arranged along a second sense line. The first and second sense lines are in fluid communication with the fluid passage. The first sense line has a first resonant frequency and the second sense line has a second resonant frequency. The second resonant frequency is different than the first resonant frequency.

Pressure ripple mitigation in pressure sensors

An electro-mechanical system has a solenoid with a plunger received in a housing chamber. A plunger portion extends outwardly of the housing. There is at least one coil, and a control for the at least one coil. The control selectively applies a first higher level current to the coil to move the plunger to an actuated position relative to the housing. The control is operable to stop the supply of first high level current to the at least one coil and allow the plunger to move to an un-actuated position. The control is operable to supply a partial power current to the at least one coil when in said un-actuated position to resist movement of the plunger. A method is also disclosed.

Solenoid dampening during non-active operation

A method of aircraft fuel distribution includes selecting a longitudinal center of gravity and predicting a rate of change of the center of gravity during flight. Fuel is located in a tail fin tank of a vertical tail fin of the aircraft, and is transferred from the tail fin tank forward at a predetermined transfer rate to counteract the predicted rate of change thereby maintaining the selected center of gravity. An aircraft fuel distribution system includes a center main fuel tank, a tail fin tank and a tail fin fuel pump to pump fuel between the tail fin tank and the center main fuel tank. An electronic controller operates the tail fin fuel pump such that fuel is flowed between the tail fin tank and the center main fuel tank at a predetermined transfer rate to maintain automatically an optimal position of a longitudinal center of gravity of the aircraft.

Continuous fuel tank level control

A fuel metering valve includes a main flow path extending axially between an inlet and an outlet. Also included is a plunger disposed around a portion of a plunger guide, the plunger and the plunger guide configured to translate between an open position and a closed position to selectively distribute a fuel flowing through the main flow path to the outlet of the fuel metering valve. Further included is a solenoid coil disposed between a solenoid outer body and a solenoid inner body, the solenoid coil configured to magnetically attract the plunger to the open position. Yet further included is a secondary flow path for routing a stagnant volume of fuel upon translation of the plunger from the closed position to the open position.
