A method of manufacturing a roofing shingle includes applying an asphalt coating to a substrate to define an asphalt coated sheet, the asphalt coated sheet including a headlap portion and a tab portion. Reinforcement material is appliedfrom a spoolto the asphalt coated sheet, wherein the reinforcement material iswound in a waywind pattern on the spoolpayed out from a roll. The reinforcement material is then secured to the headlap portion of the asphalt coated sheet.Prior to applying the reinforcement material to the asphalt coated sheet, the reinforcement material has a first width. The method further includes shrinking the reinforcement material to a second width narrower than the first width upon securing the reinforcement material to the headlap portion.

Method of manufacturing a shingle with reinforced nail zone

A method of manufacturing a roofing shingle includes applying an asphalt coating to a substrate to define an asphalt coated sheet, the asphalt coated sheet including a headlap portion and a tab portion. Reinforcement material is applied from a spool to the asphalt coated sheet, wherein the reinforcement material is wound in a waywind pattern on the spool. The reinforcement material is then secured to the headlap portion of the asphalt coated sheet.

A reoriented insulation assembly and the method of making same is disclosed. The insulation assembly includes a plurality of mineral fiber sections, such as fibrous glass sections. Each of the sections has a machine direction, a cross direction and a loft direction. The sections are positioned in an abutting relationship with the cross direction or the machine direction of the sections defining the thickness of the insulation assembly. An exterior cover encloses the plurality of abutting sections. The reorientation of the sections places the forces generated by the fibers in a desired relationship for installation in a building.

Reoriented insulation assembly and method

An assembly for multipaned windows and/or doors is fabricated from sashes having a fibrous wool core and a polymeric outer shell. The sash contains a plurality of orifices through the shell, but not the core, to provide a filtered path for air and moisture movement in and out of the cavities between panes to reduce the condensation of moisture on the panes.

Core material of shaped glass fiber board is impregnated with resin in outer surface portions, the resin is cured, an additional resin casing is formed therearound, and the additional resin is cured. Glass strands may be included with the resin impregnation, and a continuous strand mat, a veil mat, and glass rovings may be included with the resin encasing.

A first mold is made by mounting a plurality of semicircular ribs of a relatively large radius on a board in spaced relationship and centered along an arc on the board with the ribs extending generally radially of the arc and having diametral portions of their peripheries facing the board, foaming a foamable hardenable liquid resin in place between each pair of adjacent ribs, and applying hardenable liquid resin over the ribs and foam. A glass fiber reinforced outer jacket for insulation is formed on and removed from the first mold. A second mold is made similarly to the first but using semicircular ribs of a relatively small radius. The outer jacket is mounted on the second mold and the space therebetween has foamable hardenable liquid resin inserted therein to form a jacketed longitudinally curved semicircular section of foamed resin pipe insulation.

Apparatus for molding rigid foam components of semicircular cross section suitable for insulating pipes and the like. A female molding component is formed of sheet metal material supported by a plurality of spaced, rigid crossmembers. This female component supports a top panel, the underside of which, in turn, supports a male mold component the semicylindrical surface of which is formed of sheet metal material which is supported by a plurality of spaced, semicircular rigid support members. When the mold is charged with an expansible foam, the pressure thereof serves to maintain the integrity of the mold profile. The design of the mold permits its fabrication utilizing relatively inexpensive material thus permitting the formation of rigid insulative foam segments at desirable unit cost levels.
