A method for operating an inkjet printer includes identifying a pattern of ink drops ejected from an inkjet with reference to image data for a printed image, identifying a waveform component for an electrical signal operating the inkjet to eject an ink drop in the pattern of ink drops with reference to at least a portion of the image data, and generating the electrical signal with the identified waveform component to eject the ink drop in the pattern of ink drops at a first velocity onto a first location of an image receiving surface.

System and method for per drop electrical signal waveform modulation for ink drop placement in inkjet printing

A method compensates for changes in drop mass of drops ejected by ink jets in a printhead of an ink jet imaging device. The method includes identifying an average of differences between drop placement position for ink drops on an image receiving member and default ink drop positions. The average of the differences is used to adjust a parameter of one or more ink jet driving signals in response to the average of the differences being greater than a predetermined threshold.

Drop mass calibration method based on drop positional feedback

A method evaluates image quality in an ink printing system and generates data values for altering the operation of the ink printing system. A method of printing executes a software instruction using a print system controller to measure a vertical position of each row of an array of jets, having at least one offset subset of the array offset in a movement direction, adjusts timing of firing intervals for the offset subset such that the offset subset fire after a longer interval than other jets, and fires jets other than the offset subset at a predetermined firing interval. A print head has an array of transducers, an ink chamber to store ink arranged adjacent the array of transducers, and an array of jets arranged adjacent the ink chamber such that when selected ones of the array of transducers are activated, ink from the chamber exits a jet corresponding to the selected ones of the transducers, the array of jets having at least one subset of the array offset in a vertical direction relative to the other jets. A print system has a print head having an array of jets through which ink can be emitted, the array of jets having at least one subset of the array offset in a vertical direction relative to the other rows, an array of transducers arranged adjacent the array of jets to cause the jets to emit ink when activated, and a controller electrically coupled to the array of transducers to control the activation of the transducers.

Optimizaton of dot placement for thermal drift

A method of compensating for changes in drop mass of drop emitted by at least one ink jet of an ink jet imaging device is provided. The method comprises identifying a drop placement position on an image receiving member of an ink jet imaging device for at least one ink jet of a print head. The identified drop placement position for the at least one ink jet is compared to a default drop placement position for the at least one ink jet to determine a difference in drop placement position. A drive signal for the at least one ink jet is then adjusted in accordance with the difference in drop placement position.

A print system senses the type of a recording medium. The print system modifies the amount of marking material on an imaging drum when the sensed the recording medium type requires a modification to the amount of marking material on the imaging drum. Moreover, the print system changes a transfix parameter when the sensed the recording medium type requires a modification to the transfix parameter.
