A unitary fiber optic ferrule reflects light off an interior lens and through the fiber optic ferrule. Optical fibers can be easily secured in the unitary fiber optic ferrule. An adapter to secure the unitary fiber optic ferrule to a optical component assembly is also presented. The adapter provides a sealing function for the lenses and to provide routing for optical fibers from other assemblies of unitary fiber optic ferrules and adapters.

Unitary fiber optic ferrule and adapter therefor

A tool-less grouping apparatus has a main body with a top portion and a bottom portion. Dividing members extending between the top and bottom portions make openings for fiber optic connectors. Forward facing surfaces may be on both the top and bottom portions to engage the fiber optic connectors. The portions also have cut-outs that can engage the fiber optic connectors to assist in removing the fiber optic connectors from adapters.

Grouping device for high density connector arrangements

An insert-molded fiber optic transmission component has at least one insert and a main body portion. The main body portion has at least one adjoining surface, a portion of the at least one adjoining surface lying in a first plane. The insert has an engaging face disposed against the outer edge surface and a reference surface adjacent the engaging face, where the reference surface lies in a second plane, and the adjoining surface is adjacent the engaging face of the at least one insert and the first and second planes being parallel to and offset from one another.

A sleeve has a handle and extensions to engage a fiber optic connector for insertion into and removal from high density adapters. The sleeve may have multiple connectors installed in a single sleeve and it may be removable. The sleeve has first and second extensions to engage the inner and outer housings, respectively, to insert and remove the fiber optic connector from an adapter.

An adapter for holding two multi-fiber ferrules in positions to mate with one another includes a main body, a opening extending through the main body configured to receive and optically and mechanically mate the two multi-fiber ferrules. Engagement members, which preferably rotate about an axis transverse to the opening, is disposed adjacent the opening on each side of the adapter to engage and hold the multi-fiber ferrules in the adapter.

Ferrule-to-ferrule adapter and ferrule adapter assembly

An adapter for holding a multi-fiber ferrule in position to mate with a fiber optic connector includes an adapter body having a first side and a second side, with a first opening disposed in the first side that is configured to receive the multi-fiber ferrule. A second opening is disposed in the second side of the adapter end is configured to receive a fiber optic connector. An engagement member, which preferably rotates about an axis transverse to the opening, is disposed adjacent the first opening to engage and hold the multi-fiber ferrule in the adapter.

Ferrule adapter and ferrule adapter assembly

A transition assembly is provided that has a base with two sides and a plurality of optical fibers attached to each of the two sides. The optical fibers are attached to the base, with a protective covering over the optical fibers. The optical fibers are in a ribbonized format at one end of the transition assembly and in an individual format at the other end. The individual optical fibers may have protective tubes disposed thereon for protection.

Transition assembly for high density optical fiber applications and a method of making the same

An interface system includes separate optical and mechanical interfaces between opto-electronic devices and fibers. This allows each of these components to be optimized for their particular function. The mechanical interface includes an aperture through which light is transmitted between the fibers and optical element on the optical interface. Protruding features on the optical interface mate with the aperture in the mechanical interface to align the optics block with the mechanical interface.
