Systems, devices, methods, and program products are provided for operating a medical system that is operable within at least two different medical device regulatory classes. A device control module receives an indicator for performing at least one procedure with a medical device. Based on the indicator, it selects a binary image for booting the control module from among multiple images including a controlled-type and a non-controlled type, which operate in different regulatory classes. A controlled-type image, which may be FDA PMA or other regulatory classes, is verified to be unaltered, and is then used to operate as a regulated medical device. The indicator can be automatic or manual. The indicator may result from connection of a specific medical device or peripheral device or may be user input.

Method and apparatus for medical devices under regulatory control

The present disclosure is directed towards a video display system and an endoscopic system configured to provide the surgeon with an optimized video image based upon user preference. The video display system includes a first video image displaying a white light video of a surgical site. The first video image has a first predetermined area. A second video image is overlaid on the first video image. The second video image is displayed in a fluorescent light video. The second video image is centered on the surgical site and includes a second predetermined area. The second predetermined area is smaller than the first predetermined area so as to define a boundary of white light video. Thus, the video display system provides the surgeon with the ability to reference the location of the fluorescent light video with respect to anatomical features of the surgical site.

A camera control unit for processing a first video signal from an image sensor, the first video signal including a plurality of frames includes a frame replication device that replicates pixels of a respective frame of the first video signal to produce at least one replicated frame, an image processing controller that detects a noise level in the first digital video signal and that selects a modification level for the random modification of the respective pixel data based on the detected noise level, and a frame modification controller that modifies at least some of the respective pixels in the at least one replicated frame resulting in at least one modified replicated frame based on the selected modification level.

Apparatus and methods for improving video quality from a digital video signal including replicated image frames

Improved fluoresced imaging (FI) and other sensor data imaging processes, devices, and systems are provided to enhance use of endoscopes with FI and visible light capabilities. A first optical device is provided for endoscopy imaging in a white light and a fluoresced light mode with an image sensor assembly including one or more image sensors. A mechanism in the first optical device to automatically adjust the focus of the first optical device wherein the automatic focus adjustment compensates for a chromatic focal difference between the white light image and the fluoresced light image caused by the dispersive or diffractive properties of the optical materials or optical design employed in the construction of the first or second optical devices, or both. Adjustment mechanisms are provided using liquid lenses or repositioning sensors. The design may be integrated with a scope or detachable.

A medical imaging apparatus for processing a frame of a digital video signal, the apparatus includes an image sensor assembly, a frame replication device, a frame modification controller, and a video encoder. The image sensor assembly generates a first video signal having a first frame rate. The frame replication device replicates pixels of a respective frame of the first video signal to produce at least one replicated frame. The frame modification controller randomly modifies at least some of the respective pixels in the at least one replicated frame resulting in at least one modified replicated frame. The video encoder outputs a second video signal based on the at least one modified replicated frame.

A method includes receiving a first digital video signal having frames at a first frame rate. A respective frame of the first digital video signal is then replicated multiple times to produce a series of replicated frames for inclusion in a second digital video signal have a second frame rate greater that the first frame rate. For at least some of the pixel data defining pixels in at least one of the replicated frames, the method includes randomly modifying the respective pixel data. The random modification of pixel data for a respective pixel in a respective replicated frame results in a modified replicated frame which is included in the second digital video signal.

Systems and methods are directed to determining the vacuum integrity within a vacuum package assembly containing an infrared detector, such as within an infrared imaging device. For example for an embodiment, a method of performing a vacuum pressure test on a vacuum package includes changing a first parameter value associated with an infrared detector within the vacuum package to vary a temperature of the infrared detector; measuring a second parameter value associated with the infrared detector based on the changing of the first parameter value; comparing the second parameter value to a threshold value; and determining a vacuum pressure condition of the vacuum package based on the comparing of the second parameter value to the threshold value.

For example, a method of determining infrared sensor calibration information, in accordance with an embodiment, includes performing a calibration operation on an infrared sensor to obtain calibration information, wherein the infrared sensor is not within an infrared camera core, and storing the calibration information.
