An agitator deployable in a wellbore includes a housing, a valve disposed in the housing and including a first valve body and a second valve body permitted to rotate relative to the first valve body, a first valve adapter coupled to the housing and which includes a first receptacle which receives at least a portion of the first valve body, wherein the first receptacle includes a cylindrical inner surface and an annular shoulder projecting radially inwards from the cylindrical inner surface, and a flexible valve seat positioned in the first receptacle of the first valve adapter between the first valve body and the first valve adapter, wherein the flexible valve seat has a cylindrical portion and an annular shoulder extending radially inwards from the cylindrical portion.

Downhole friction reduction systems having a flexible agitator

An agitator deployable in a wellbore includes a housing including a central axis and a central passage, a valve including a first valve body having a first contact face and a second valve body permitted to rotate relative to the first valve body and having a second contact face configured to contact the first contact face, a first valve adapter including a first receptacle which receives at least a portion of the first valve body to couple the first valve adapter to the first valve body, and a flexible valve configured to permit the first valve body to flex relative to the first valve adapter whereby an angular misalignment may form between a central axis of the first valve body and a central axis of the first valve adapter.

Discussed herein are systems and methods of forming hardfacing coatings and films containing Q-carbon diamond particles for use in downhole drilling tooling and other tools where wear-resistant coating is desirable. The Q-carbon diamond-containing layers may be coated with matrix material and/or disposed in a matrix to form the coating, or the Q-carbon diamond layer may be formed directly from a diamond-like-carbon on a substrate.

Systems and methods of fabrication and use of wear-resistant materials

A detection system and method for a well site is provided. The well site has a surface rig and a surface unit. The surface rig is positioned about a formation and a surface unit. The detection system includes a well site component deployable from the surface rig via a conveyance, well site equipment positioned about the well site and having a bore to receive the well site component therethrough; and base units. The base units include scanners positioned radially about the bore of the well site equipment. The scanners detect an outer surface of the well site component and generate combinable images of the well site component whereby the well site equipment is imaged.

Detection system for a wellsite and method of using same

A coating for a diamond table of a cutting element is described. The coating is employed to fill a plurality of voids left by the manufacturing process that compromise the integrity of the cutting element and the associated downhole tooling. The coating may comprise diamond nanoparticles in a metal matrix and may be used with or without a binder layer applied directly to the diamond table, the coating may alternatively be a pure diamond film coating, and may be employed to fill voids left by the manufacturing process.

Downhole drill bit with coated cutting element

A polycrystalline-diamond cutting element for a drill bit of a downhole tool. The cutting element includes a substrate and a diamond table bonded to the substrate. The diamond table includes a diamond filler with at least one leached polycrystalline diamond segment packed therein along at least one working surface thereof. The cutting element may be formed by positioning the diamond table on the substrate and bonding the diamond table onto the substrate such that the polycrystalline diamond segment is positioned along at least one working surface of the diamond table. A spark plasma sintering or double press operation may be used to bond the diamond table onto the substrate.

Cutter elements for drill bits and methods for fabricating same

A method for leaching a PCD table for a cutter element includes (a) positioning a PCD table within a leaching chamber. The method also includes (b) submerging the PCD table in an acid within the leaching chamber. In addition, the method includes (c) sealing the leaching chamber. Further, the method includes (d) increasing the pressure within the leaching chamber to a pressure greater than or equal to 20,000 psi after (c).

Apparatus and methods for high pressure leaching of polycrystalline diamond cutter elements

A downhole tool comprises a housing having a longitudinal bore and an agitator assembly disposed within the longitudinal bore of the housing. A removable component is disposed within the longitudinal bore and can be removed from the housing so as to at least partially open the longitudinal bore.

Downhole pulse generating device for through-bore operations

A location of a downhole asset relative to a first environment may be tracked. The configuration information for the downhole asset is acquired, where the configuration information includes a measurement of one or more forces applied to the downhole asset during assembly of the downhole asset in the first environment. A service life of the downhole asset is determined from the configuration information. One or more parameters related to usage of the downhole environment in a second environment are measured. A remainder of the service life of the downhole asset is determined by reducing the service life by an amount proportional to usage of the downhole asset as indicated by the measurement related to usage of the downhole asset. The remaining service life may be used to automatically initiate an order for new parts.

Method and system for monitoring downhole assets

An improved ram inner seal assembly used in ram-type BOPs is disclosed. The disclosed invention provides an inner guide seal assembly that comprises a specially shaped guide body and a separate sealing element. When the ram-type BOP is closed, two opposing rams move toward one another, and the inner guide seal assembly guides a wireline (or other tubular) toward the center of the vertical bore through the BOP. The inner guide seal assembly's proximity to the ram body's centerline axis helps ensure that a positive seal is formed and that no damage occurs to the device in the central bore of the BOP. The separate, specially-shaped sealing element can be easily inserted into and removed from the guide body of the inner guide seal assembly for easy replacement.

Inner guide seal assembly and method for a ram type BOP system

An improved shear/seal ram assembly used in ram-type BOPs is disclosed. The disclosed invention is a unique shear/seal ram assembly in which rail seal actuators attached to or integrally formed in a planar surface of one shear blade mate with and slide within corresponding rail guide grooves formed in a planar surface of a second shear blade. As the shear blades move over each other, the rail seal actuators slide within the rail guide grooves, eventually coming into contact with a seal actuator plate of a unique blade-to-blade seal assembly placed within a shear blade seal groove. Continued movement of the shear blades over each other causes the rail seal actuators to compress, or 'energize,' the blade-to-blade seal of the blade-to-blade seal assembly, thereby providing a pressure tight seal between the shear blade assemblies.
