An engagement system for a recessed luminaire can include an engagement component having an engagement component body, a first bracket engagement extension, and a second bracket engagement extension, where the first and second bracket engagement extensions are movable with respect to the engagement component body. The engagement system can also include a bracket configured to be detachably coupled to the engagement component, where the bracket includes a bracket body, a first additional component coupling feature, and a second additional component coupling feature, where the bracket body includes an engagement component receiving feature that is configured to engage the first and second bracket engagement extensions, and where the engagement component is able to couple to and decouple from the bracket when the first and second bracket engagement extensions are moved with respect to the engagement component body.

Engagement systems for recessed luminares

A system for mounting a light emitting diode (LED) wave guide down light retrofit fixture. The system can include a mounting plate having a number of apertures symmetrically positioned around a center of the mounting plate. The system can also include at least one fastening device mechanically coupled to an upper surface of the mounting plate using at least a first aperture of the apertures, where the at least one fastening device mechanically couples to a base of an existing fixture. The system can further include a coupling device mechanically coupled to a lower surface of the mounting plate. The system can also include a trim assembly having a frame and a LED light source mechanically coupled to the frame. The frame can have a coupling feature disposed on a top surface of the frame, where the coupling feature mechanically couples to the coupling device.

Light-emitting diode down light retrofit fixtures

A luminaire includes a light module body and a trim attachment mechanism. The trim attachment mechanism includes a first lever with a first cam on a first side of the light module body and a second lever with a second cam on a second side of the light module body. The first lever and the second lever can both be rotated between a release position that releases and attached trim and an engage position that engages an attached trim. The luminaire can also include a mounting bracket mechanism with a recess circumscribing the light module body and a pair of notches on opposite sides. Torsion spring brackets can be shaped to rotate freely in the recess, whereas friction blade brackets are secured in the notches so that the friction blades do not rotate relative to the light module body.

A luminaire includes a finishing section. The finishing section has a finishing cone that defines an internal cavity. The finishing section further includes a light source that is disposed within the internal cavity of the finishing cone. Additionally, the luminaire includes one or more retention devices that are coupled to the finishing cone. The one or more retention devices are configured to mount the finishing cone within a recessed can having one or more retention device receivers. The one or more retention devices include wire forms such as, but not limited to, spring wire forms and coiled wire forms. Alternatively, the one or more retention devices include a friction retention device.

Light-emitting diode wave guide down light retrofit fixtures

An optical attachment feature of a light-emitting diode (LED) lighting system includes an enclosure, a trim, a reflector, and a diffuser. The enclosure can include an enclosure wall forming a cavity and an enclosure collar having a first profile. The trim can include a trim collar that abuts to the enclosure collar, wherein the trim collar has a second profile. The reflector can include an outer surface, an inner surface having reflective material disposed thereon, and a reflector collar having a first optical attachment mechanism. The diffuser can include a diffuser collar, where the diffuser collar can include a second optical attachment mechanism and a third optical attachment mechanism, where the second optical attachment mechanism can couple to the first optical attachment mechanism, and where the third optical attachment mechanism is disposed within a feature formed by the first profile and the second profile when the enclosure collar is mechanically coupled to the trim collar.

Optical attachment features for light-emitting diode-based lighting system

In an example embodiment of the present disclosure, a light fixture assembly comprises a surface mount light fixture. The surface mount light fixture comprises a trim having a first shape. The trim comprises an outer trim perimeter and an inner trim perimeter. The inner trim perimeter defines an orifice through which light is emitted, wherein the outer trim perimeter includes a chamfered edge. The light fixture assembly further includes a skin having a second shape similar to the first shape and configured to at least partially cover the trim. The skin includes an outer skin perimeter configured to surround the outer trim perimeter, an inner skin perimeter configured to surround the inner skin perimeter, and a raised coupling feature configured to grip the chamfered edge of the trim. The skin is coupled to the trim via the engagement of the raised coupling feature and the chamfered edge.

A plaster frame for a luminaire includes a first attachment tab on a side of the plaster frame and a second attachment tab on the side of the plaster frame. The plaster frame further includes a back wall. The first attachment tab and the second attachment tab each include a rib protruding toward the back wall. The back wall and the first attachment tab define a first space for a hanger bar assembly to extend therethrough, and the back wall and the second attachment tab define a second space for the hanger bar assembly to extend therethrough.

A light emitting diode (LED) light fixture is described. The LED light fixture can include a wave guide having an aperture that traverses therethrough. The LED light fixture can also include at least one LED disposed adjacent to the aperture in the wave guide. The LED light fixture can further include a LED driver electrically coupled to the at least one LED. The LED light fixture can also include a heat sink thermally coupled to the at least one LED.

Waveguide light fixtures

The luminaire includes a light emitting diode (LED) module that includes a heat sink with an outer wall defining a top cavity and a bottom cavity and a mounting flange generally positioned along the bottom of the outer wall. A LED light source is positioned within the bottom cavity and in thermal communication with the heat sink. The bottom surface of the mounting flange includes one or more alignment features or keys extending out from the bottom surface. A trim having a corresponding alignment aperture is matingly engaged by positioning all or a portion of the alignment feature into the alignment aperture to ensure proper orientation of the trim with the LED module and to provide sufficient surface area for good thermal transfer between the heat sink and the trim.

An electrical connection adapter for an existing light fixture is described herein. The adapter can include a housing having at least one wall that forms a chamber disposed between a top side and a bottom side of the housing. The adapter can also include a first connection feature disposed within the top side of the housing and configured to couple to an electrical connector for the existing light fixture. The adapter can further include a second connection feature disposed within the bottom side of the housing. The adapter can be configured to couple to a light source of a retrofit light fixture. The adapter can also include a power transfer device disposed within the chamber of the housing, where the power transfer device has a first end electrically coupled to the first connection feature and a second end electrically coupled to the second connection feature.

Electrical connector adapters for light fixtures

An electrical box that allows for separate wire connection areas for low voltage and line voltage wiring within a single box. The electrical box includes a voltage divider positioned within the box that divides the box into two portions, providing a low voltage wiring connection area that is separate from the line voltage wiring connection area. The electrical box also includes multiple knockouts, each covering an opening that provides a passageway from the interior of the box to the exterior of the box. At least one knockout and associated opening are positioned to provide access to the low voltage wiring connection area and another knockout and associate opening is positioned along to the box to provide access to the line voltage wiring connection area. The box provides an electrical junction for a luminaire, such as a downlight, or other electrical device.
