The present invention relates to a sound rated floor system for inhibiting sound transmission between floors. The system includes a corrugated steel deck; a first layer of cementitious material or board or sheet applied over the corrugated steel deck; a sound insulation mat or board applied over the first layer; a second layer of cementitious material applied over the sound insulation mat or board. The floor system has an IIC rating of at least 25 and the corrugated steel deck provides at least 50 percent of the ultimate load carrying capacity under static and impact loading of the floor system with a floor deflection of at most 1/360 of the floor span.

A method is provided for calibrating a moisture meter to a particular settable slurry product for determining the relative dryness of the product. The steps of the method include determining the appropriate relative dryness of the particular slurry product, associating a moisture meter reading with the appropriate relative dryness to achieve a meter value, determining the relative spacing of the meter from a conductive surface for obtaining the associated meter value and providing a spacer having the relative spacing for calibrating subsequent meters for measuring the relative dryness of the settable slurry product.

A high temperature resistant glass fiber composition consists essentially of glass fibers having a nominal softening point of about 1000&deg; F. (about 538&deg; C.) which is capable of passing the British Standard 476 Part 4 fire test for building materials. The BS476-4 test begins at 750&deg; C., substantially above the nominal softening point of the glass fibers. The increased temperature resistance is provided by coating the glass fibers with a halogenated resin latex binder and a calcium carbonate material. The method of making the glass fiber composition comprises depositing the resin latex and a calcium carbonate material on the glass fibers using a cationic flocculant. The preferred halogenated resin latex binder is selected from polyvinyl chloride and polyvinylidene chloride.
