An apparatus for stacking cases for compact discs or other storage medium. The apparatus includes the use of specially-timed support elements which upwardly index a compact disc container into the bottom of a stack of like items. Improved handling features provide for resistance to scratching or other damage.

Method and apparatus for the high-speed handling of compact disc storage

Apparatus and method for forming and inserting lead wires into openings provided in a movable carrier strip in the manufacture of products such as disc capacitors is disclosed. The carrier strip is provided with sets of openings disposed in transversely-spaced pairs aligned relationship with one another. The apparatus forms lead wire stock into a U-shaped subassembly with straight sections of lead wire stock spaced apart by an amount equal to the desired spacing between the lead wires. Mechanism is provided for holding the carrier strip in a bent position in which the pairs of openings of the sets are in straight-line paths through which the free ends of the straight sections of lead wire stock are advanced so that the lead wire assemblies are mounted on the strip. The carrier strip is advanced to the station at which the leads are mounted on it on a guide mandrel of curved cross section. Movably-mounted grooved guide means are moved into a guide position so that the leads pass through the openings at the lead wire mounting station and are subsequently moved to a retracted position to allow for lengthwise indexing of the carrier strip.

Capacitor lead wire manufacture

A high speed unit printer comprising an intermittently rotating ink disc having a substantially horizontal surface on which a supply of ink is deposited. A collecting blade continuously directs the ink into a narrow stream near the periphery of the disc. An adjustable metering blade continuously spreads the ink stream from the collecting blade into a band of uniform thickness. An inking pad and a transfer pad are mounted on a common slide assembly which reciprocates to transfer ink from the disc to an adjacent plate or type, and an image from the plate or type to the article to be printed. The slide assembly is mounted on a pivotally mounted slide arm assembly which is raised during reciprocating movement of the slide assembly by a rotating cam.
