A one step hair color and relaxer system comprising: an alkalizing agent in the range between about 0.1% to about 8%, based upon the total concentration of the hair color and relaxer system; a hair dye; and an oxidizing agent in the range between about 0.1% to about 6%, based upon the total concentration of the hair color and relaxer system; wherein the pH of the hair color and relaxer system is in the range between about 9 to about 14.

Method and composition for reducing malodor in permanently waved hair

A method and composition treatment is used to reduce post permanent odor in permed or waved hair. The malodor in permed hair is reduced by applying a leave-in aqueous treatment of pH 2.5-4.5 containing, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, polyquaternium-7, dimethicone and fragrance containing at least four components with water/octanol partition coefficient Log Kor log P of 3-4.5. The post permanent odor in hair is reduced by (1) minimizing any reactions of hair with residual chemical compounds in hair after the perming process or after the oxidation step and (2) lessen or suppress any odoriferous compounds by decreasing their vapor pressure and (3) depositing in hair long lasting fragrance components to mask or change the malodor to be more pleasant.

By combining a hydrogen peroxide liberating complex with hair coloring dyes, a highly effective hair coloring composition is obtained which comprises a stable dry powder composition which can be stored in a single container. When use is desired, the stable dry powder composition of the present invention is mixed with water, activating the liberation of hydrogen peroxide and allowing the desired hair coloring effect to be achieved. In addition to providing a single stable dry powder formulation, the composition of the present invention is capable of achieving a wide array of shades and coloring effects.

An improved process and composition for straightening or waving hair is achieved combining ammonium bisulfite and ethanolamine sulfite in a single mixture which is maintained at a pH of between about 6.5 and 8.0. By employing the present invention, long lasting, waved or straightened hair is attained. Furthermore, using the hair waving/straightening composition and method of the present invention, the desired waving and/or straightening of hair fiber is achieved in a single step, without the need for a separate application of an oxidizing or neutralizing agent.

By operationally mounting a plurality of wafers or plates forming tumblers in an independent, separate, substantially closed container, and cooperatively mounting the plate tumbler container with a cylinder forming member, a unique cylinder lock system is attained which is easily and inexpensively manufactured, as well as quickly and easily re-keyed whenever desired. In the preferred embodiment, all of the plate tumblers which are desired for the particular lock construction are mounted in the substantially closed container, with each plate tumbler having the requisite spring means associated therewith.
