Lighting components for illuminating an aisle portion of a cabin floor of an aircraft, and aircraft and passenger seats for an aircraft including the same are disclosed. Said lighting components are configured to illuminate at least a portion of the aisle, between adjacent passenger seats positioned on either side of the aisle. The lighting components are configured to direct light towards the cabin floor using a specially designed housing and reflector surface that are designed to illuminate objects in the aisle, while minimizing light pollution in the cabin and detection by passengers on board the aircraft. Said lighting components are optionally mounted on one or more passenger seats, and/or may be integrally formed with a passenger seat. Lighting components include a curved reflector surface configured to reflect light from a light source positioned within the housing such that it is directed towards the aisle to create the desired illumination.

A method and apparatus comprising a plurality of seating systems and a frame for use in a passenger aircraft. A first seating system in the plurality of seating systems may have different dimensions from a second seating system in the plurality of seating systems. A frame may be configured to be connected to the plurality of seating systems.

A method and apparatus for monitoring musculoskeletal performance. A person repeatedly performing a physical task is monitored using a sensor system to generate task performance data. A simulation of the person performing the physical task over a number of cycles is run using a musculoskeletal model for the person and at least one of the task performance data and task description data. Muscle activation data and tendon force data are generated based on the simulation. Muscle fatigue and tendon fatigue resulting from performing the physical task are simulated for each cycle using a fatigue model system, the muscle activation data, and the tendon force data. The musculoskeletal model is adjusted to account for the muscle fatigue and the tendon fatigue after each cycle and prior to a next cycle. A prediction is made as to when a predetermined risk threshold for the person is reached based on the simulation.

Quantifying muscle and tendon fatigue during physical exertion

An aircraft seat assembly configured in accordance with an example embodiment of the invention offers a light weight and comfortable seat cushioning system that also provides energy-absorption and enhanced passenger maneuverability in extreme conditions such as may be experienced in a hard landing situation. The cushioning system includes a crushable, energy-absorbing layer, a main cushioning layer, a smaller ishial insert layer which may be the same as the main cushioning material and a semi-dynamic pneumatic cell which uses a dual action breather valve to vary its inflation with changes in cabin pressure. The seat cushion may be finished with a covering of cloth or upholstery.
