A free-wheel cage ring, having two annular flanged disks that extend radially and are connected to each other to form an axial intermediate space and have clamping bodies therebetween pivotally arranged in the cage ring and are biased for coupling by a spring, the clamping bodies perform, due to centrifugal force, a pivoting motion for decoupling against the spring force, and at least two guide surfaces are allocated to each clamping body in its axial extent, that engage opposite end peripheral regions of the clamping body, guide them at least in the peripheral direction, and have a break through which the clamping bodies extend to a radially inner clamping surface. The axial length of the clamping body radially inner clamping surface is equal to the total length of the clamping body. The guide surfaces are each formed integrally by recesses on opposite end faces of the flanged disks.

Free-wheel cage ring with centrifugal-force lifting

A bearing arrangement for a shaft supporting a rotating tool is provided, with the shaft being rotatable on both sides of the tool at least indirectly in roller bearings, one of which can be removed for purposes of tool replacement together with an associated bearing sleeve slidable onto the free shaft end. The seating of the bearing sleeve, which is borne at least indirectly by the shaft, is formed by a conical outer surface tapering toward the shaft end. The bearing sleeve exhibit a conical borehole corresponding to the conical outer surface, and the bearing sleeve is radially expanded via a stop-limited axial shifting with respect to the conical outer surface by an amount to produce a specific level of reduced roller-bearing play.

Bearing arrangement for a shaft supporting a rotating tool

A freewheel retainer ring with centrifugal force takeoff has two ring-shaped edge rings which are connected with each other by several axial connecting bolts and which mount clamping members between them. For this purpose, separate pockets are arranged respectively at both end faces of the clamping members. The pockets at least guide the clamping member in the circumferential direction, whereby one pocket is connected with one edge ring, and the other pocket is connected with the opposite edge ring.

To permit quick mounting and unmounting of a wheel (5) on a balancing machine, and rapid interchange of components of the balancing machine when wheels of different sizes arc, to be balanced, the shaft of the balancing machine has a conical surface (10) formed thereon, or is securely coupled to a first conical part (8), against which a radially expansible second conical part (9) can be engaged. The second conical part (9) has an outer cylindrical surface (12) for clamping in the center hole of a hub or wheel disk or the wheel (5) to be balanced. The second conical part (9) has an axially extending portion (9a), which terminates in a spring abutment (15, 16). A spiral spring (21) is placed around the extending portion, the other end of which engages against a radially directed leg portion (20, 24) of an angle ring (18, 25) which overlaps a radially extending stop (17, 22) formed on the outer conical part (9). The outer conical part (9), thus, together with the spring (21), the angle ring (18, 25) and the spring abutment (15) thereon form a single assembly, from which no parts can be lost or intermingled with parts of different sizes. The radially extending leg (24) of the angle ring and the stop (22) can be formed with matching conical surfaces (23, 26) to assist in pressing off the outer conical part (9) when a wheel is removed. The spring (21) is held in position between the spring abutment (15, 16) and the angle ring (18, 25), under pre-stressed condition.

Quick-clamping and centering system for wheel balancing apparatus

A detent arrangement is disclosed for the coupling pin of an overload element, particularly in an overload clutch, wherein a coupling pin is in form-locking engagement with the oppositely disposed clutch half, with such engagement being released when there is an overload; at its rear end, the pin is provided with the detent arrangement. This detent arrangement surrounds the rear pin end with a spring arrangement which is partially supported at the housing that accommodates it and otherwise at a collar of the coupling pin, with one end of the spring arrangement being supported by means of a slide ring and a plurality of locking elements that extend toward a cone envelope face of the coupling pin and a contact face of the housing. In this connection it is provided that, in the direction toward the opposite clutch half, the spring arrangement is supported by a radial shoulder of the coupling pin and the rear end of the coupling pin is provided with a cone envelope face for the locking elements with this cone envelope face extending radially outwardly away from the other clutch half. The locking elements are supported by the contact face in such a way that, if the coupling pin escapes due to an overload, the locking elements can be displaced in the direction toward the pin axis.

To permit rapid axial relocation of cutter rollers or cutter wheels (2, 3; 11; 42; 78, 121) on supporting shafts (6, 7; 70, 71; 100), the cutter rollers are located on respective positioning or carrier rings (12, 41, 74, 75; 102, 120 130) surrounding the respective shafts, and are axially clamped in position by a rotatable operating ring (13, 22, 28, 40, 52, 88, 89; 107, 126, 138), rotatable about said positioning ring. The operating ring is rotatable, for example by being operator-accessible, at any circumferential position of the shaft, a hydraulically operated compression sleeve, or the like, so that the axial position of the cutter roller or wheel can be changed on the shaft regardless of the circumferential position of the shaft when it comes to rest after having cut a web into a ribbon, the width of which is to be changed.

The invention relates to an apparatus for coupling a shaft or a hub by means of a radially resilient bush, which can be radially clamped to the shaft or hub by axially tightenable clamping elements by exposing the clamping elements to a radially operative spring assembly; the release of the coupling is effected by means of a hydraulically- or pneumatically-actuated cylinder and piston arrangement. The nucleus of the invention is that the spring assembly is accommodated in the cylinder chamber acted upon by the pressure fluid.

Coupling

To prevent torsion and bending forces from being applied to an operating ring disk system pressing together interdigited elements of a ring disk clutch, and to permit placement of ring disk portions close to each other for maximum engagement force being applied to the clutch, the ring disk system is formed of a plurality of parts (27, 34, 41 45) which are essentially sector-shaped, surround the clutch shaft, and are pivotable about a movable fulcrum (11, 20) which compresses the clutch disks (3, 5). The individually separate ring disk system parts or elements are in outer circumferential engagement to abut each other and to hold the parts in essentially clearance or play-free mutually engaged position, regardless of whether the rings disk system is flat or planar, or deflected into conical shape. Further, the parts are formed with an inner engagement arrangement to hold them in mutually aligned and supported radial position. The parts can, additionally, be held axially in position. Interengaging projection-and-recess arrangements or a circular holding spring coupled to the elements or parts maintains them in the clutch.

Axially operating positioning element, particularly for a friction

An apparatus is proposed for releasably locking a bolt in the axial direction relative to a housing element surrounding it, in which the bolt has a circumferential groove tapering radially inward and a locking element inserted into this groove with a cross section adapted to that of the groove. The locking element protrudes radially beyond the cross section of the bolt and is in contact there on both sides with support surfaces, one of which is formed by the housing and the other of which is axially displacable under a compressive force load; at least one of these support surfaces is inclined, to provide a radially outwardly oriented reduction of the cross section formed between the support surfaces.

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for measuring the torque passed through a rotatable machine element, in which two parts connected to this machine element rotate relative to one another. This relative rotation is translated into an amplified axial movement, and the axial movement is measured as a standard for the transmitted torque.

To provide a compact clutch, two clutch parts (1, 2; 44,54,55,73,74) are located in axially fixed position on respective driving and driven shafts. The clutch can be automatically disengaged upon transfer of excessive torque, by including bolt elements (16,61) which are positioned circumferentially around one of the clutch elements (2) and parallel to the axis of rotation (17,60) of the clutch, the bolt elements carrying directly, or engaging respectively tooth or tooth gap elements which are shiftable axially against a bias force, for example provided by a spring (22). The tooth or tooth gap elements are rotatable about the longitudinal bolt axis by a limited angle, which angle is slightly above a relative angle of rotation of the clutch parts upon disengagement due to overload, so that the respective flanks of the tooth elements, engaged with tooth gap elements--or tooth gaps formed in the other clutch part--will remain in continuous engagement just until disengagement of the clutch to thereby provide extensive surface engagement contact between the respective clutch parts.

Automatic overload clutch structure

An overload coupling having coaxially arranged coupling halves. At least one of the coupling halves is axially displaceable and is held by spring force in form-fitting engagement with the other, and the coupling halves have a face gear on their facing ends for effecting the form-fitting engagement. The flanks of the gear-tooth system that rest on one another during torque transmission generate an axial force component, which acts in the direction of disengagement, and a radial force component. The axially displaceable coupling half is embodied such that it is radially variable counter to a restoring force.

To permit unloading and release of statically stored dynamic energy in a run of a loaded conveyor, e.g. a mining conveyor belt, the return stop mechanism or back-run safety mechanism is coupled to a fixed structure, such as a frame (50, 73, 89) through a releasable friction coupling which is formed by a two-part holding ring (48, 49; 71, 72; 87, 88) coupled to the frame, and having facing inwardly directed surfaces which can be clamped, by controlled friction force against facing surfaces of an outer operating ring (45, 64, 84) of a ratchet or other one-way clutch or drive to prevent back-run or a return stop for the conveyor. Upon controlled release of the frictional engagement, for example by counter-acting spring force or releasing a spring force, the friction surfaces are permitted to slip, thus permitting dissipation of stored energy in the conveyor, for example due to sudden stoppage upon malfunction or external interference, for example by rocks, boulders or the like. The two-part holding ring is preferably constructed with interengaging telescoping ring parts to provide a protective surrounding structure, requiring only minimum radial space.

Run-back safety mechanism for conveyor apparatus

A retainer ring for a freewheel clutch comprises an annular disc and a plurality of sprag-guiding clips mounted on a radial face of the annular disc in a circumferential distribution about the disc axis. Each clip extends parallel to the disc axis and holds a sprag captive. Each clip has two parallel, circumferentially spaced legs extending from the radial disc face and being parallel to the disc axis. The legs extend along opposite sides of the circumferential surface of the sprag. Each clip further has a web interconnecting the clip legs at ends thereof remote from the radial face of the annular disc. The web extends along one of the end faces of the respective sprag.
