A spotlight assembly is disclosed, including a spotlight energizeable to transmit a beam of light and having a lens frame configured to support a lens, and a cylinder coupled to the lens frame and adapted to receive at least one light guide through an opening in a sidewall of the cylinder. An extender for a spotlight configured to generate a beam of light is also disclosed, the spotlight having a first shell to support a reflector and a lamp and a light emitting opening, and a second shell for enclosing the opening, wherein the second shell has a transparent window through which the light beam is transmitted out of the first shell, the extender including a first shell configured to receive and support a plurality of light guides to be spaced along the light beam inside the first shell, and a mounting bracket affixed to the first shell and couplable to an outer surface of the transparent window, wherein the first shell has at least one opening disposed to receive at least one of said plurality of light guides for insertion into the first shell in a direction substantially perpendicular to the axis of the light beam.

A luminaire especially adapted for use as an outdoor framing projector is weatherproof and has an optical system for projecting a beam of a variable size and focus. A housing made in extruded sections has a longitudinally continuous sealed joint between the sections formed by a dog-leg shaped lip on one adjacent section fitting into a correspondingly shaped recess on the other section, with a resilient sealing strip compressed between the lip and recess and a detent holding the lip and recess together. A fan forced interior air recirculation cooling system cools a lamp with the warmed air flowing longitudinally back to front past top and side walls of the housing provided with cooling fins and a return air duct adjacent to the bottom wall drawing air from the front of the housing back to the inlet of the fan. Daylight adjustment of the lamp relative to the reflector is allowed by providing the reflector with two holes which allow two reference beams to escape which are aligned with reference marks in the housing at the proper adjustment position. Lenses are supported from longitudinal flanges of the housing by bearing blocks which trap longitudinally running cylindrical bearings against the flanges and have clamp stands to secure the positions of the lenses.

A control system for positioning a searchlight (2) in azimuth and elevation including an upper torque tube (34) and a lower torque tube (39) which are coupled together; an upper push rod (46), push rod coupling (50) and lower push rod (54) which are coupled together; and control elements (65, 90 & 93, 100) operative to rotate the lower torque tube and also operative to reciprocate the lower push rod.
