An open-end spinning machine with a machine frame with at least one section. The latter is provided for each longitudinal machine side with a rigid structural unit which consists of several longitudinal structural elements and two end walls. Intermediate walls are provided at least between two adjoining pairs of spinning stations. These intermediate walls are rigidly connected to the longitudinal structural elements as are the intermediate walls, whereby the groups of technological spinning elements, including the parts of drive units and the winding mechanisms are attached to longitudinal structural elements and/or to the intermediate walls. The end walls of the two structural units are connected to each other in pairs.

Open-end spinning machine

In an open-end spinning machine is provided with a plurality of spinning stations installed next to each other. Each station having a spinning element part of a drive unit, and an opener unit contained in several assemblies. A plurality of longitudinal structure elements are provided to which the assemblies of the spinning device are attached. The longitudinal structural elements are interconnected by transversal bracing. The transversal bracing may be an intermediate wall.

Open-end spinning machine frame structure

A device for the feeding and opening of a fiber sliver for an open-end spinning device, having a feeder roll, a pressure roll interacting with the feeder roll and an opening roll. The device includes a tray with two guide walls guiding the fiber sliver between the pressure roll and the opening roll and laterally between themselves. The pressure roll is mounted in the feeding tray which has a supporting surface between the feeding roll and the opening roll, to support the fiber sliver and which is delimited by the guide walls. The opening roll is driven in the same direction of rotation as the feeder roll.

A spinning machine with unit to service spinning and winding stations, which is capable of travelling alongside the spinning machine and contains control and drive elements in a housing. The housing is enclosed by covers and is equipped with an anti-collision device taking effect in a direction opposite to the direction of travel. The anti-collision device of each direction of travel comprises two elements, of which the first element is attached to the lateral cover of the housing so as to be capable of pivoting. The first element is made to act as an actuating mechanism of the second element which acts upon the control elements.

In an apparatus for forming a thread-reserve winding, with a bobbin plate (4) which rotates together with the bobbin tube (3) and which engages by means of a centering shoulder into the inside diameter of the bobbin tube and has a thread-catching device, there are arranged on the periphery of the bobbin plate (4) slits (40) which extend in a radial direction up to the inner centering shoulder. The slits (40) can be made straight or arcuate and, to guarantee that the thread is caught particularly securely, form their entrance at an acute angle with the tangent to the periphery of the bobbin plate (4). To bring the thread into a position favorable for catching it, two thread guide elements (7, 8) can be moved into the thread path extending from a thread draw-off pipe (1) to a thread-suction device (6). These feed the thread to the thread-catching device approximately parallel to the tube axis.

Apparatus and process for forming a thread-reserve winding

A thread-reserve winding is formed on a bobbin tube of a spinning machine in which the thread is drawn off continuously from the spinning machine by means of a pair of draw-off rollers and, to form the thread-reserve winding, is grasped and wound onto the bobbin tube. According to the invention, immediately after the thread has been grasped, the spinning tension is put into effect to wind on the thread-reserve winding and, after the thread-reserve winding has been applied, the thread is wound on under the normal winding-on tension. In this way, the thread is drawn off by the bobbin tube under a thread tension sufficient to ensure a taut winding.

Process for forming a thread-reserve winding

In a pivotable suction tube (3) for taking up a yarn from a bobbin, there is provided for transfer of the yarn to an operating element, on its side facing the bobbin, an elongate slot (32), with which is associated a controllable closure piece (33, 35) extending over at least a substantial portion of it. The suction tube (3) possesses a tubular section (30) having a shape being symmetric to its axis with which is associated as a closure piece a rotatable slider (33) provided with an axial slot (330). The closure piece (33, 35) carries a stop (333, 352) with which is associated a counter-stop (20, 410) which becomes effective in dependence on the pivoting motion of the suction tube (3).

The method and apparatus for removing irregularities in a thread being produced on a machine as the thread is traveling to a takeup device. A thread reserve having a suction applied thereto causing a loop to be formed therein which contains said irregularity. An additional pair of loops are formed in said thread, one above and one below the thread reserve. The loop formed in the end of the thread reserve is severed from the thread and the two remaining loops are inserted into a thread joining device. A thread suction extractor associated with the thread joining device pulls the end portions of the pair of loops taut permitting the joining operation to take place and, after joining of the thread, removing the separated ends. The thread reserve is provided with mechanism for maintaining the loop of thread extending therein separated and for severing and removing the portion of the loop containing the irregularity from the thread.

Method and apparatus for removing an irregularity in a thread

A pair of draw-off rollers (10, 11) of a thread drawing-off device comprising an over-mounted pressure roller (11) which cooperates resiliently with a driven roller (10) which projects across the front of the pressure roller (11). The pressure roller (11) has at least one recess (113, 114) on its front face (110) which is dimensioned in such a way that it temporarily completely releases a thread (4) sliding along the surface of the driven roller (10) and lying adjacent to the front (110) of the pressure roller (11). By means of a device of this type, the thread (4) is drawn off, for the purposes of joining, to such an extent from the spool (31) that the thread (4) reaches the side (310) of the spool (31) which is facing away from the front (110) of the pressure roller (11) provided with recesses (113, 114). The thread is then introduced into the spinning chamber (2) and is joined. The thread is then guided, using the thread tension, past the front (110) of the pressure roller (11) provided with recesses (113, 114) and introduced into the clamping line of the pair of draw-off rollers (10, 11) and is immediately subjected at this point to a predetermined draw-off.

Thread drawing-off device and method for the insertion of the _drawn-off

A method and apparatus for servicing a number of mutually adjacent spinning positions of an open-end spinning machine by means of a servicing apparatus which can move along the spinning positions. A travel drive is provided for the servicing apparatus for driving the servicing apparatus along the spinning machine when activated. Switches are connected to the travel drive for activating the travel drive responsive to being activated by an operator at a spinning station requiring service. A switch is also provided for de-activating the travel drive for halting the movement of the service apparatus in the neighborhood of the operator at the spinning station requiring service.

Process and apparatus for servicing a number of mutually adjacent

A knotting mechanism for use on open-end spinning machines for performing a knotting process on yarn produced on machines. The knotting mechanism is mounted so that it can be moved longitudinally along the spinning machine and transversely to the spinning machine to a knotting position. A switch-on mechanism is activated responsive to the knotting mechanism being moved transversely to the spinning machine to a knotting position. A driving mechanism is provided for initiating the knotting process on the yarn upon being activated. A release mechanism is operably connected to the driving mechanism for activating the driving mechanism responsive to the switch-on mechanism being activated. A timing device de-activates the driving mechanism after a predetermined period of time sufficient to carry out the knotting process and prevents the driving mechanism from initiating another knotting process without the switch-on mechanism being further de-activated and re-activated. Both electro-mechanical and mechanical mechanisms are provided for insuring that only a single knotting process is performed while the knotting mechanism is in the region of the yarn that is to be knotted.

A method and apparatus for the elimination of an irregularity in a yarn being produced on an open end spinning machine and drawn off therefrom by a pair of draw-off rollers and wound on a bobbin. The yarn is deflected into an N-shaped run so that a knotting mechanism can knot the parallel portion of the yarn together so as to remove the irregularity in the yarn. Yarn guides are provided on the knotting mechanism for displacing an oblique portion of the yarn out of the knotting mechanism when in use.

Method and mechanism for elimination of an irregularity in a yarn

An elongated suction air nozzle provided for forming a thread reserve in the form of a loop in thread running past the mouth thereof. A constriction is provided in the nozzle and extends for the whole length of the expected loop size. The constriction divides the cross-sectional area of the nozzle into two partial areas resulting in air flow in the central region of the nozzle being of a greater velocity than in the two partial remote areas.

An apparatus for feeding a carding machine with fiber material having a shaft which is fed by a preceding feed shaft. The fiber material is conveyed into the feed shaft by means of a stream of air flowing through a conveying conduit. An air circulating passage is connected between the feed shaft and the filling shaft. An air conveying device is disposed in the air circulating passage for conveying the stream of air emerging from the feed shaft into the filling shaft for compressing the fiber material therein.
