Apparatus and methods are disclosed relating to a body towable behind a vessel in a body of water, an arm rotatably coupled to the body, and one or more foils disposed on the arm. The arm, when deployed, is configured to be free to rotate as the apparatus is towed through the body of water. The one or more foils are configured to generate lift as the apparatus is towed. Due to the free rotation of the arm, the foils impart tension force to the body and not torque forces.

This disclosure is related to marine seismic sources, for example marine seismic sources known in the art as benders. Some embodiments of this disclosure use Lorentz forces to produce seismic energy. For example, magnets and wire coils may be attached to one or more plates of a marine seismic source, and the Lorentz interaction between them may cause deformation of the plates to produce seismic energy. Such marine seismic sources may be components of a marine seismic survey system, and may be used in a method of marine seismic surveying. Methods of making marine seismic sources are also disclosed.

An apparatus includes a marine seismic source having a volume of gas and a gas reservoir, and the marine seismic source and the gas reservoir are coupled to permit a resonating gas flow to pass therebetween. The apparatus may be a component of a marine seismic survey system. The apparatus may be utilized in a method of marine seismic surveying.

An apparatus is disclosed which may include a plurality of marine seismic sources. According to some embodiments, these marine seismic sources may include a plurality of piezoelectric components. Such an apparatus may provide a useful sound pressure level for conducting marine seismic surveying. According to some embodiments, a conduit may be coupled between the plurality of marine seismic sources and a gas reservoir external to the plurality of marine seismic sources. The conduit may in some embodiments have at least one adjustable dimension for changing a frequency of the apparatus. The apparatus may be used in a method of marine seismic surveying.

An embodiment discloses a sensor streamer comprising: an outer surface; tension members within the outer surface extending along a length of the sensor streamer; spacers disposed within the outer surface along the length of the sensor streamer; a geophysical sensor disposed in an interior of one of the spacers; and an actuator assembly configured to apply tension to the tension members.

This disclosure is related to marine seismic sources, for example marine seismic sources known in the art as benders. Some embodiments of this disclosure use magnetic reluctance forces to produce seismic energy. For example, pole pieces may be attached to one or more plates of a marine seismic source, and a wire coil may induce an attractive force between the pole pieces to cause deformation of the plates to produce seismic energy. Such marine seismic sources may be components of a marine seismic survey system, and may be used in a method of marine seismic surveying. Methods of making marine seismic sources are also disclosed.

Systems and methods for marine seismic cable deployment and retrieval are described. One system comprises a plurality of portable containers, each container temporarily storing a marine seismic component, at least some of the containers able to be removably fastened to a deck of a vessel of opportunity, and at least one of the portable containers storing a main cable winch on which is wound a marine seismic cable.
