A service brake for a wind turbine yaw motor brake is provided, the service brake including a brake housing comprising a brake housing cavity extending axially, in direction of a central axis, through the length of the brake housing. A brake disc is included within the brake housing, being rotatable about the central axis in an airgap between friction plates. A lever is connected to the brake housing, and, when engaged, is configured to close at least part of the airgap and bring the friction plates in frictional contact with the brake disc. A removable centerpiece is insertable within the brake housing cavity, the centerpiece includes a brake disc interface configured to engage with the brake disc and a shaft interface configured to engage with a shaft to be braked. The centerpiece is configurable to transfer braking torque from the brake disc to the shaft to be braked.

Service brake for a wind turbine yaw motor

Provided is a wind turbine including an active yaw system realized to maintain an upwind orientation of the wind turbine aerodynamic rotor during safe operating conditions, which active yaw system includes a number of yaw drive units, and wherein a yaw drive unit includes a negative brake; a principal power supply configured to supply power to the active yaw system during normal operation of the wind turbine; and a dedicated negative brake reserve power supply configured to supply power to the negative brakes in the event of a grid disconnect. A method of operating such a wind turbine is also provided.

Wind turbine

Provided is a wind turbine including a tower and a nacelle rotatable relative to the tower by means of a yaw bearing arrangement having a yaw ring fixed relative to the tower, several upper sliding pads arranged between the upper side of the yaw ring and a sliding structure of the nacelle and several lower sliding pads arranged between the lower side of the yaw ring and the sliding structure, wherein the sliding pads are fixed to the yaw ring and that at least one radial opening is provided in the sliding structure allowing access to the upper or lower sliding pads.

A yaw bearing arrangement for a wind turbine, including a yaw bearing with a yaw ring and radial adjustment acting on the inner radial lateral surface of the yaw ring, the radial adjustment including at least a housing, at least one sliding pad and one or more threaded adjustment bolts arranged in threaded housing bores and connected with the sliding pad for a radial adjustment of the sliding pad towards the lateral surface and axial bores for accommodating fixation bolts, wherein the housing is a ring or a ring segment with a plurality of radial, at least partially threaded bores, each radial bore accommodating a radial sliding unit including a radial sliding pad and a threaded radial adjustment bolt for radial movement of the sliding pad.

Yaw bearing arrangement

A method of vertically assembling a generator of a wind turbine is provided. The method includes A rotor part is arranged on a horizontal assembly which supports components of the generator such that a rotational axis of a component is essentially vertical during assembly, and the assembly support is configured to allow access to an interior of a generator component during the assembly procedure; a stator part is arranged in the rotor part; and the stator part is joined to the rotor part. An assembly arrangement for a vertical assembly of a generator of a wind turbine is provided. The assembly arrangement includes a horizontal assembly support for supporting components of the generator such that a rotational axis of a component is essentially vertical during assembly, and the assembly support is configured to allow access to an interior of a generator component during the assembly procedure.

The present invention relates to an arrangement for directing a lightning current within a wind turbine. The arrangement includes a first component, a second component, a contact element and a guideway. One of the two components is arranged moveably in relation to the other. The contact element is arranged in a way that the first component is electrically connected to the second component in order to direct a lightning current within the wind turbine. The contact element is guided moveably by the guideway. According to the invention, the guideway is at least partly integrated in the first component.
