The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a medical device including a substrate and a hydrophilic polymer layer, including the steps of: placing the substrate in a solution containing a hydrophilic polymer and a normal salt in an amount ranging from 1.0 to 20% by mass; and heating the solution at a temperature ranging from 50° C. to 140° C. The present invention provides a simple method of manufacturing a medical device having excellent durability and imparted with hydrophilicity.

An object of the present invention is to provide a simple method for manufacturing a coated medical device allowed to have not only properties such as sufficient hydrophilicity but also a bacteria adhesion inhibiting capability. The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a coated medical device, including: (A) a contacting step of housing a medical device in a container, and bringing the medical device into contact with a solution a containing a hydrophilic polymer A; and (C) a heating step of heating the container; wherein the hydrophilic polymer A is a polymer containing, as a monomer unit, a compound having a quaternary ammonium cation group; and wherein the pH of the solution a after the heating step is 6.1 to 8.0.

Method for producing coated medical device

A medical device including an internal wetting agent and a copolymer of a silicone monomer and satisfying the following conditions: (1) that the internal wetting agent contains a copolymer of an open-chain compound having an acidic group and an open-chain compound having an amide group; (2) that the internal wetting agent is contained in the range of from 0.1 to 10% by mass with respect to the whole medical device; and (3) that the copolymer of a silicone monomer has a hydroxyl group and that the content ratio of the hydroxyl group in the silicone monomer is in the range of from 0.0005 to 0.01 equivalents/g. A medical device containing an internal wetting agent and having excellent transparency and hydrophilicity can be obtained.

A medical device including a substrate and a hydrophilic polymer layer and satisfying the following conditions: (1) that the hydrophilic polymer layer is on at least a part of the substrate; (2) that the hydrophilic polymer layer contains: a hydrophilic polymer having an acidic group; and a compound having an acidic group and a ring structure; and (3) that a time during which a liquid film is retained on the surface of the medical device (a liquid film retention time) is 10 seconds or more after the medical device is stationarily immersed in a phosphate buffer solution, pulled up from the phosphate buffer solution, and retained in the air. The present invention provides a medical device in which a surface of a substrate is hydrophilized, and a method for manufacturing same by a simple method.

Medical device and method of manufacturing same

A device includes a substrate and a hydrophilic polymer layer made of a hydrophilic polymer having a hydroxyl group. The hydrophilic polymer layer having a hydroxyl group is fixed to at least a part of a surface of the substrate and the hydrophilic polymer further has an amide group. A liquid film retention time of the device is 15 seconds or more. The device has a surface of a substrate which is hydrophilized. A method for producing the device by a simple method is also disclosed.

A method of producing a medical device having a substrate and a hydrophilic polymer layer, including the steps of: pretreating the substrate by placing the substrate in an alkali solution and heating the substrate at a temperature ranging from 50&#xb0; C. to 100&#xb0; C.; and heating a solution containing the pretreated substrate, a hydrophilic polymer having an acidic group and a hydroxyalkyl group, and an organic acid at a temperature ranging from 50&#xb0; C. to 100&#xb0; C. Provided is a simple method of producing a medical device imparted with hydrophilicity excellent in durability.

Method for producing medical device

The present invention provides a method for producing a medical device, which includes a step of disposing a solution containing a hydrophilic polymer having a hydroxyl group and an amide group and a substrate on or in a support, and heating the solution and the substrate through the support, wherein a pH of the solution before starting the heating step is in a range of 2.0 or higher and 6.0 or lower, and a pH of the solution after completion of the heating step is in a range of 2.0 or higher and 6.0 or lower. The present invention provides a method for simply producing a medical device. More particularly, the present invention provides a method for simply producing a medical device whose surface is hydrophilized.

To provide a medical device including a substrate and a hydrophilic polymer layer formed on at least a part of the substrate, which satisfies the following conditions (a) to (d): (a) a polymer constituting the hydrophilic polymer layer is a hydrophilic polymer having an acidic group; (b) the hydrophilic polymer layer has a thickness of 1 nm or more and less than 100 nm; (c) a number ratio of basic group/acidic group of the hydrophilic polymer layer is 0.2 or less; and (d) a liquid film retention time at 40 minutes after ultrasonic cleaning in a phosphate buffer solution is 15 seconds or more. The present invention provides a medical device in which a surface of a substrate is hydrophilized, and a method for manufacturing same by a simple method.

A soft contact lens has low water content or no water content. The soft contact lens includes: a circular central part positioned at a center of the soft contact lens; an intermediate part positioned at an outer peripheral side of the central part and forming an annular shape having a center coaxial with the central part; and an outer edge part positioned at an outer peripheral side of the intermediate part and forming an annular shape having a center coaxial with the central part. Respective radii of curvature of the central part, the intermediate part, and the outer edge part are different from each other, and a sagittal depth of the soft contact lens is within a range of a sagittal depth in a case where the entire soft contact lens is formed in a range of a radius of curvature &#xb1;0.2 mm of the outer edge part.

Disclosed is a medical device having an elastic modulus of 100 kPa or more and 2,000 kPa or less, a water content of 10% by mass or less, a tensile elongation of 50% or more and 3,000% or less, and a dynamic contact angle (advancing angle) relative to a borate buffer of 80&#xb0; or less.
