A power management system for a headset includes a step-up converter and a step-down converter. The step-up converter increases the voltage and decreases the current supplied by the power supply. The power is transmitted via transmission lines at the increased voltage. The step-down converter decreases the voltage to a suitable level for various components of a power rail assembly. The power lost in the transmission lines is proportional to the square of the current. The power saved by transmission at a lower current in the transmission lines is greater than the power lost by the step-up converter and the step-down converter.

Power management system for an artificial reality system

To increase the spatial resolution of a liquid crystal display (LCD) device, instead of emitting colors of an image (e.g., the three primary colors) in a single frame, the colors of an image are emitted sequentially. For example, if the colors of the image are red, blue, and green, the colors are emitted sequentially at a rate three times the desired frame rate of the display. The colors are emitted from a backlight unit (BLU) that produces pulses of colored light successively. By emitting colors sequentially, the number of subpixels in a pixel can be decreased or eliminated. Thus, among other advantages, the size of each pixel can decrease and the spatial resolution of the display device (e.g., pixels per inch) can increase.

An electronic device comprises a controller. The controller is configured to provide a first signal to a display of the electronic device to turn off the display. The controller is also configured to provide a second signal to the display to alter a gate source voltage of a drive transistor coupled to a light emitting diode (LED) of a pixel of the display while the display is turned off.

An electronic device comprises an electronic display having an active area having a pixel. The electronic device also comprises processing circuitry configured to receive image data to send to the pixel and adjust the image data to generate corrected image data based at least in part on a stored correction value for the pixel. The processing circuitry also is configured to generate a test data to send to the pixel subsequent to sending corrected image data to the pixel, wherein the test data is selected based upon a comparison of at least one aspect of the corrected image data with a threshold value.

Sensing considering image

An apparatus receives current image frame data and data relating to at least one previous image frame for an electronic display. One or more parameters related to hysteresis of transistors in the electronic display are sensed. A correlation device, such as a look-up table, receives the sensed parameter or parameters and the data relating to one or more image frames, and uses this information, at least in part, to output an appropriate compensation signal for the current image frame data. The compensated current image frame data may then be supplied to the electronic display to reduce or eliminate the effects of hysteresis on the displayed image.

Active sensing and compensation for display panel hysteresis

A display device may include a plurality of pixels configured to display image data on a display. The display device may also include a circuit that measures a first current associated with a light-emitting diode (LED) of a pixel of the plurality of pixels in response to the circuit receiving a first data voltage. The circuit may also measure a second current associated with the LED of the pixel of the plurality of pixels in response to the circuit receiving a second data voltage. The circuit may then determine a voltage associated with the LED based at least in part on the first current and the second current.

A method of operating a VR or AR head mounted display (HMD) system includes obtaining a video performance parameter for a video signal, selecting a clock frequency for video data transfer within the HMD system based on the video performance parameter, detecting one or more available frequency bands for a wireless data connection between a host device and the HMD system, and selecting a frequency band from the one or more available frequency bands for the wireless data connection, based on a predetermined connection suitability parameter for the one or more available frequency bands and based on the selected clock frequency for video data transfer within the HMD system. The method further includes establishing a wireless connection between the host device and the HMD system over the selected frequency band.

A device may include a photosensitive transistor and a light-emitting diode. The light-emitting diode may include an anode. The anode may include a first portion having a first thickness and a second portion having a second thickness, wherein the second thickness is less than the first thickness. The device may also include driving circuitry that receives a data signal and causes light to emit from the light-emitting diode in response to the data signal. The photosensitive transistor may generate an electrical signal in response to light emitted from the light-emitting diode during the light emission.

Compensation using optical feedback for self-emissive pixel

A focusing lens is configured to focus display light for an eye of a user. A display is configured to emit the display light having an illumination profile that increases in brightness as a distance from a middle of the display increases. The focusing lens is configured to receive the display light and focus the display light as image light that has a brightness profile that has substantially uniform brightness across the image.

Head mounted display with angle compensation

The disclosed computer-implemented method may include determining a frame rate for a current frame, where the frame rate dictates the amount of time the current frame is to be presented on a display. The display may be a backlight that is powered for a specified amount of time as part of a duty cycle. The method may further include calculating a backlight duty cycle time for the current frame. The backlight duty cycle time may include a minimum amount of powered time plus an additional amount of powered time that is dependent on the frame rate for the current frame. The method may further generate a drive signal for the display using the calculated backlight duty cycle time and driving the display using the generated drive signal. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Adaptive synchronization

The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods that may reduce a reduction in visual artifacts related to hysteresis of a light emitting diode (LED) electronic display. In one example, an electronic device may include a controller. The controller is may provide a signal to a pixel of a display of the electronic device while at least a portion of the display is turned off. The signal may include a first current and a second current. The first current may be designed to increase an ambient temperature corresponding to the pixel. The second current may be generated as part of an active panel conditioning operation. By applying the first current and the second current, hysteresis settling times from the pixel may improve, therefore improving speeds of sensing and compensation operations of the electronic device.
