An evaluation device for a sensor system equipped with a magnetic sensor and at least one inertial sensor. The evaluation device includes an electronics device, using which a value of an orientation variable may be determined in view of at least one supplied inertial sensor signal and at least one supplied magnetic sensor signal. Using the electronics device, a comparison value for the at least one orientation variable is determined in view of the inertial sensor signal and in disregard of the magnetic sensor signal. In view of a deviation and/or a correlation coefficient between the value and the comparison value, an information item regarding a reliability of the magnetic sensor signal of the magnetic sensor and/or regarding an occurrence of magnetic and/or electrical interference in a surrounding area of the magnetic sensor, is determined.

Evaluation device and method for operating a sensor system equipped with a magnetic sensor and at least one inertial sensor

An earphone including a proximity sensor, an acceleration sensor, and a signal analysis device. The signal analysis device identifies an approaching movement of the earphone to an object using the proximity sensor signal. The signal analysis device ascertains whether the approaching movement is a movement of the earphone to an ear of the user. By filtering the acceleration sensor signal, the signal analysis device generates a high-pass filtered acceleration signal and a low-pass filtered acceleration signal. The signal analysis device determines an end time of the approaching movement based on a stabilization of the acceleration, using the low-pass filtered acceleration signal. The signal analysis device confirms that the approaching movement is a movement of the earphone to an ear of the user based on changes in the high-pass filtered acceleration signal after the ascertained end time of the approaching movement.

Earphone and method for identifying whether an earphone is being inserted into an ear of a user

A method for determining a wearing state of an earphone. Acceleration data are acquired using an acceleration sensor. A time characteristic of the acceleration data is ascertained, and curve segments are ascertained. The curve segments are each formed by first and second sections. A first wearing state of the earphone is determined, in which the earphone is worn on the ear, if a curve segment including a first section having a positive course and a second section having a negative course is ascertained, and if a first characteristic shape is ascertained for the curve segment. A second wearing state of the earphone is determined, in which the earphone is not worn on the ear, if a curve segment including a first section having a negative course and a second section having a positive course is ascertained, and if a second characteristic shape is ascertained for the curve segment.

Method for determining a wearing state of an earphone, and earphone system

A method for identifying head-shaking gestures and nodding gestures by using an accelerometer arrangement of a device that is worn on the head, the accelerometer arrangement providing acceleration signals for three linearly independent directions in space. The method includes the following steps: calculation of a norm of total acceleration with the aid of the acceleration signals provided by the accelerometer arrangement; and identification of head-shaking gestures and nodding gestures using the calculated norm of total acceleration; identification of a head-shaking gesture being performed as a function of a comparison between the calculated norm of total acceleration and a predetermined threshold value; and identification of a nodding gesture being performed as a function of identifying an oscillation of the calculated norm of total acceleration about a predetermined acceleration value.
