A wavelength selective switch, including: an optical fiber array, an optical signal processing device and an output selection device. The optical fiber array includes multiple dual-core optical fibers arranged in parallel, one dual-core optical fiber being used for inputting two optical signals; the optical signal processing device is located at an output end of the optical fiber array and is used for splitting the two optical signals into sub-signals of different wavelengths and projecting the sub-signals of different wavelengths to different spectral band regions in the output selection device; and the output selection device is located at the rear end of the optical signal processing device, and is used for processing the sub-signals projected to the spectral band regions, so as to respectively perform output selection on the sub-signals split from two optical signals, thereby achieving a dual-switch function.

Wavelength selective switch

A wavelength selective switch includes an attenuation liquid crystal cell array and a switching liquid crystal cell array, the attenuation liquid crystal cell array is configured to select a region where a light is incident on the switching liquid crystal cell array; the switching liquid crystal cell array includes a first ECB liquid crystal cell array, which is divided into a plurality of pixel units, a phase of each pixel unit is adjusted by setting different voltages so that a phase pattern formed by the pixel units exhibits a lens property, and the light passing through the switching liquid crystal cell array is deflected by changing a center of the lens formed by the phase pattern, so as to select an outgoing port.

The present disclosure relates to wavelength selective switches. In one embodiment, a wavelength selective switch may include a liquid crystal (LC)-based attenuation switching device that has an LC switching module to switch an incident beam to one of a plurality of output paths. The LC switching module may include one or more LC switching cells. The LC-based attenuation switching device further includes a mirror to reflect the beam from the LC switching module so as to output the beam through a corresponding output port, and a temperature compensation module provided on a side of the mirror opposite to the LC switching module. The temperature compensation module may be configured to alter curvature of the mirror as temperature changes so as to compensate for deformation of the LC switching cells due to the temperature change.

A method for compensating for a wavelength shift in a wavelength selective switch (WSS), and a device therefor. The device comprises a fixed seat () as well as a rotation beam () and a compensation block () that have different thermal expansion amounts, the rotation beam () and the compensation block () being fixedly adhered to the fixed seat (). In the method, a combined structure of the rotation beam () and the compensation block () with different thermal expansion amounts is adopted; the combined structure rotates by means of different expansion amounts generated by the rotation beam () and the compensation block () at the same external temperature, and further drives an optical element of the WSS to rotate, hence compensating for a wavelength shift of the WSS. The method is safe and reliable; the device has a simple structure, and is convenient to encapsulate, is applicable to various WSS optical paths, and does not affect advantages of the optical path structure of the WSS.

Method for compensating for wavelength shift in wavelength selective switch, and device therefor

A multicast optical switch based on free-space transmission comprises a 1&#xd7;M input collimator array, a light splitting device, an optical distance compensation device, a spot transformation device, a 1&#xd7;N output collimator array and a reflector array which are arranged in sequence. The 1&#xd7;N output collimator array corresponds to reflector array. The light splitting device is provided with a light splitting surface and a reflection surface, and by means of light splitting surface and reflection surface, light splitting and beam splitting of n times are carried out on input signals of 1&#xd7;M input collimator array, and then N beams of sub-signal light are generated. The optical distance compensation device compensates optical distance differences among M&#xd7;N sub-signal light beams produced by light splitting device. The M&#xd7;N sub-signal light beams are focused to be 1&#xd7;N light spots through light spot conversion device, and then 1&#xd7;N light spots are reflected to reflector array.

Multicast optical switch based on free-space transmission

A wavelength selective switch (WSS) with hitless switching. The WSS includes the fiber collimator array, the focusing lens, collimating lens, diffraction grating, focusing lens, and attenuation reflection unit array. Each attenuation reflection unit has an interconnected transmission-type MEMS attenuator and a one-dimension MEMS reflector. The transmission-type MEMS attenuator is positioned in the front of the one-dimension MEMS reflector. The central axis of the transmission-type MEMS attenuator aligns and coincides with that of the one-dimension MEMS reflector, with the two central axes being glued together. The WSS of the present invention effectively utilizes the combination of a one-dimension reflector array and a transmission-type optical attenuator chip. With the use of one-dimension reflector array, instead of the known two-dimension reflector array, the complexity of design and manufacture is greatly reduced, thereby reducing the production costs of the switch.
