A chemical oxygen core for a chemical oxygen generator includes at least one layer of an oxygen-generating composition. In some examples, the at least one layer comprises includes a metal powder fuel, a transition metal oxide catalyst, and an oxygen source. In various examples, the at least one layer includes less than approximately 0.1 percent by weight of the transition metal oxide catalyst. In certain examples, a chemical oxygen generator includes a chemical oxygen core and a perforated metal covering surrounding the chemical oxygen core along a length of the chemical oxygen core. In some aspects, the perforated metal covering has an opening ratio of approximately 0 to 100 percent.

Aircraft occupant chemical oxygen system with short and long duration

An oxygen generator outlet manifold assembly that includes an outlet manifold and an end cover. The outlet manifold includes a main body portion with inner and outer surfaces and at least a first hose connector that includes an outlet defined therein extending from the main body portion. The main body portion defines a main body portion interior that includes a connection opening defined in the inner surface, a ring chamber, a flow space and a distribution chamber. An annular ring is positioned in the main body portion chamber interior and separates the ring chamber from the distribution chamber. The end cover includes a generator outlet portion extending therefrom that is received in the connection opening. The generator outlet portion includes an outlet valve having an open and a closed state and includes an interior chamber that cooperates with the ring chamber to define an outlet chamber. An oxygen flow path is defined through the open valve, to the outlet chamber, through the flow space, through the distribution chamber and to the outlet of the first hose connector.

Oxygen generator outlet manifold with improved thermic properties

A passenger service unit assembly that includes a frame that defines at least an oxygen opening and a service opening, an oxygen mask housing positioned adjacent the oxygen opening, an oxygen mask housing cover positioned to cover the oxygen opening, and a service cover positioned to cover the service opening. An oxygen mask that is movable between a stowed position and a deployed position is positioned in the oxygen mask housing. The oxygen mask housing cover maintains the oxygen mask in the stowed position. The oxygen mask housing cover is movable between a closed position and an open position. When the oxygen mask housing cover is moved to the deployed position, the oxygen mask drops to the deployed position via gravity. The service cover is movable between a closed position and an open position and includes at least a first passenger service unit component associated therewith.

The invention relates to a passenger service unit (PSU) for use in an aircraft, comprising a reading light having a light source and a reflector partially enclosing the light source, and an emergency oxygen supply device comprising an oxygen source, a starter unit for releasing oxygen flow from said oxygen source to an oxygen mask, a control unit for controlling oxygen flow rate from said oxygen source to said oxygen mask and an electrical energy storage device like a rechargeable battery pack or a condensator, for providing electrical energy to said control unit and/or said starter unit. According to the invention, the PSU comprises an energy harvesting unit adjacent to or integrated into said reflector of said reading light wherein said energy harvesting unit is electrically connected to said electrical energy storage device.

Passenger service unit with emergency oxygen supply and reading light

The invention relates to a passenger service unit for an aircraft, comprising at least one light source and at least one passenger air supply device. According to the invention the passenger air supply device is adapted for applying a flow of air to the light source. Furthermore it relates to a method for providing light and fresh air to passenger of an aircraft by providing an air flow from an air supply device and light from a light source to the passenger. The method comprises applying an air flow from said passenger air supply device to said light source for cooling the light source by means of convection. Furthermore the invention relates to a method for assembling a passenger service unit and to an aircraft.

Passenger light cooling

A method for equipping a personal service unit with passenger oxygen masks includes arranging one or more passenger oxygen masks in an intermediate container ready for use, and then attaching the intermediate container together with the masks located therein within the personal service unit. In this manner, the comparatively lengthy packaging procedure which is difficult to carry out in overhead work, may be effected in a simplified and reproducible manner outside the aircraft.
