A microscope includes an image acquisition system, microscope components and a touch screen. The image acquisition system is configured to optically and digitally image an object so as to produce an object image The microscope components are at least one of motorized and electrically controllable. The touch screen is configured to display the object image in a display area thereof and to sense inputs in the display area within the displayed object image so as to change settings of the microscope components.

A stereomicroscope of the telescope type includes a first beam path and a second beam path, wherein in the first beam path a first telescope system and in the second beam path a second telescope system are provided, wherein the magnifications of both telescope systems are equal and can be changed synchronously to each other, and wherein a common main objective is allocated to both beam paths. In order to increase the resolution without loss in depth of field, it is proposed that at least one optical element of the first telescope system has, compared to at least one corresponding optical element of the second telescope system, a different optically effective diameter.

The invention relates to an afocal zoom ( ) for use in microscopes of high resolution and high zoom factors having a tube lens ( ), the zoom comprising four successive optical assemblies (G , G , G , G ) when viewed from the object end, the first assembly (G ) having a positive focal length (f ), the second assembly (G ) a negative focal length (f ), the third assembly (G ) a positive focal length (f ), and the fourth assembly (G ) a negative focal length (f ), and the first and the fourth assembly (G , G ) being arranged in stationary fashion and the second and the third assembly (G , G ) being arranged movably for modifying the magnification of the zoom ( ), the zoom magnification decreasing with increasing distance (D ) between the two assemblies (G , G ). The zoom operates in the range of &ldquo;useful magnification&rdquo; of the microscope with sufficient contrast if the zoom meets the meets specific conditions.

The invention relates to an objective ( ) for stereomicroscopes of the telescope type which comprises three optical assemblies (G G G ), the first assembly (G ) being arranged towards the object side and the third assembly (G ) being arranged towards a magnification changer ( L, R). The invention relates to a novel type of microscope with an illuminating beam which is guided through the magnification power changer with optimized light intensity parallel to the observation beam. The invention specifically relates to a stereo fluorescence microscope comprising a set of quickly replaceable filters in interchangeable filter carriers. The novel design offers good light efficiency on the object. Malfunctions occurring as a result of intrinsic reflections or fluorescence phenomena inside the microscope are avoided.

The invention relates to a tubular intermediary unit for a microscope comprising a relatively small upper part and a similarly small lower part, the upper part being pivotable about an axis of rotation relative to the lower part. Two deflecting mirrors are located in the observation beam path in the upper and lower parts. At least one of the deflecting mirrors can be pivoted, preferably about the same axis of rotation about which the upper part pivots, depending upon the tilt angle of the upper part relative to the lower part. The invention allows an observer to freely adjust an eyepiece tube carried by the upper part without changing the view on the field of vision under the microscope.
