Generation and presentation of electronic books for consumption in skim mode

Embodiments of methods, systems, and storage medium associated with providing an electronic book for partial consumption are disclosed herein. In one instance, an electronic book, including prominent and non-prominent components, may be stored in memory of an electronic reader. In various embodiments, the electronic reader may monitor for an instruction from a user to transition between a skim mode of operation and a normal mode of operation. In various embodiments, the electronic reader may be placed in the skim mode of operation in response to detecting an instruction from the user to enter the skim mode of operation. While in the skim mode of operation, the prominent components of the electronic book may be filtered from the non-prominent components and presented, and presentation of the non-prominent components of the electronic book may be suppressed. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Techniques described herein provide for a method, system, and apparatus for determining whether a mismatch is present between content and a description associated with a literary work. In various embodiments, a matching score may be calculated based on a number of stems identified from the description that match stems identified from the content. The matching score may be adjusted based on a number of name entities identified from the description that match one or more words in the content. The computed matching score may then indicate whether the description and the content correspond to a same literary work. According to one embodiment, the description and the content correspond to the same literary work even where the computed matching score indicates a mismatch if a title is determined to match in the content. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

Detection of mismatch between book content and description

According to one or more embodiments, a method is provided. The method may include receiving an indication to pause playback of a media file at a current location in the media file. The method may also include receiving an indication to resume playback of the media file. Furthermore, the method may include determining an elapsed time between the indication to pause playback and the indication to resume playback. Furthermore, the method may include determining, based at least in part on the current location and the elapsed time, a second location in the media file that occurs before the current location. Further still, the method may include resuming playback of the media file at the second location.
