A process for shape selective hydrocarbon conversion involves contacting a hydrocarbon feedsteam under conversion conditions with a modified catalytic molecular sieve which has been modified by being pre-selectivated with a first silicon source, then steamed. The feedstream may also contain a second silicon source which is a high efficiency para-xylene selectivating agent. The method for modifying the molecular sieve is also described.

Method for modifying a catalyst

A process for shape selective hydrocarbon conversion involves contacting a hydrocarbon feedstream under conversion conditions with a catalytic molecular sieve which has been modified by treatment with an amino silane polymer while molecular sieve acid sites are protected. When the process is toluene disproportionation, a toluene feedstream may also contain a second silicon source which is a high p-xylene selectivating agent. The invention also includes the modification method and the shape selective catalyst which results from the modification.

Catalyst modification for shape selective hydrocarbon conversions

A process for catalytic cracking and C3/C4 olefin alkylation with phosphorus stabilized faujasite catalyst is disclosed. Catalytic cracking produces C3 and C4 olefins, which are alkylated using phosphorus stabilized and water activated cracking catalyst. Spent alkylation catalyst may be discharged into the FCC unit.

A method for synthesizing a zeolite bonded to a substrate utilizes a reaction mixture having a H.sub.2 O/YO.sub.2 molar ratio of at least 25 and Y is a tetravalent element, particularly silicon. Processes for converting feedstock organic compounds

Synthesis of zeolite films bonded to substrates, structures and uses

There is provided a process for producing a styrenic compound by reacting an aromatic compound with an aldehyde over an intermediate pore size molecular sieve catalyst. Such styrenic compounds include unsubstituted styrene and substituted styrene. Examples of such aromatic compounds include unsubstituted benzene and alkylbenzenes. An example of such an aldehyde is acetaldehyde. An example of such a catalyst is a ZSM-5 catalyst.

Direct production of styrenes by reaction of aromatics with aldehydes

A method is provided for increasing the catalytic activity of acid zeolite catalysts characterized by a silica to alumina mole ratio of at least 12 and a constraint index within the approximate range of 1 to 12, comprising contacting said zeolite catalysts with water for a sufficient treating time, temperature and water partial pressure to bring about said increased activity. The increase in catalytic activity is within a zone of enhanced activity, said zone is defined as encompassing all those conditions of treating time, temperature and water partial pressure and combinations thereof which yield catalytic activities greater than initial catalyst activity. The zeolite of enhanced activity of the method of the present invention can be utilized in improved acid catalyzed hydrocarbon conversion processes such as cracking, hydrocracking, alkylation, dealkylation, transalkylation, isomerization, dimerization, oligomerization, polymerization, addition, disproportionation, aromatization and hydration.

Hydrocarbon conversion with zeolite having enhanced catalytic activity

A process is provided for effecting hydroisomerization of a C.sub.4 -C.sub.8 paraffin by contacting the same under hydroisomerization conditions with a catalyst comprising a porous crystalline zeolite characterized by a silica/aluminum mole ratio of greater than 12 and a constraint index within the approximate range of 1 to 12, which zeolite has undergone controlled pretreatment by contact with water to enhance the acid activity thereof, expressed as alpha, to greater than about 300. The catalyst also comprises, intimately combined therewith, a minor proportion of a Group VIII metal.

A catalytic heat balanced cyclic process is provided for converting a charge consisting essentially of methanol, dimethyl ether or mixtures thereof to a hydrocarbon product rich in ethylene and propylene by contact, under specified conditions of temperature and contact time, with a catalyst comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite characterized by pores, the major dimension of which is less than 6 Angstroms and the capability, under such conditions, of producing less than about 20 weight percent methane in said hydrocarbon product, regenerating the catalyst so employed at a temperature between about 1200.degree. and about 1400.degree. F. to remove accumulated carbonaceous deposit therefrom and provide a source of hot regenerated catalyst for further contact, under controlled temperature conditions, with said charge.

Heat balanced cyclic process for manufacture of light olefins

A catalytic process is provided for converting a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 monohydric alcohol, an ether derived from said alcohol or a mixture of such alcohol and ether to a hydrocarbon mixture rich in C.sub.2 -C.sub.3 olefins and mononuclear aromatics with high selectivity for para-xylene production by contact, under conversion conditions, with a catalyst comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite having a crystal size of at least about 1 micron, a silica to alumina ratio of at least about 12 and a constraint index, as hereinafter defined, within the approximate range of 1 to 12.
