A projectile loom is distinguished by a combination wherein a weft yarn changer (1) has a low-weight body (11) and low-weight yarn transfer elements (2) and the multiple weft device is driven directly by a highly dynamic servo motor (3). The loom can be operated at speeds above 350 rpm. The changer body (11) is made, for example, of aluminum and the slide bar (2a) of the yarn transfer element (2) is made of a mixture of plastics and fibers.

A yarn brake which can be used in projectile looms and rapier looms is actuated by a stepping motor with the rotational movement of a drive shaft of the stepping motor being converted to a linear movement of the braking member of the yarn brake.

The catch mechanism employs a straight line guideway for moving an ejector reciprocally in a straight line path. The ejector has a foot piece for engaging only the foremost gripper projectile of a series of projectiles in a channel so as to positively eject the foremost projectile. A pivotally mounted spring biased pawl is used to retain the projectiles in the channel and is biased outwardly during an ejection process by the movement of the ejector.

The Jacquard machine employs a selector system for blocking and un-blocking the pressers (e.g. Jacquard needles) wherein use is made of pivotally mounted locking levers between a control element and each presser. The control elements which may be in the form of multimorphous bending strips or a switching means comprised of two electrically magnetizable relatively movable rod-like members, engage with the levers to cause pivoting of the levers into a blocking or non-blocking position relative to the pressers.

Jacquard machine

The gripper shuttle is constructed of three parts, namely, a metal inner part, a plastics sleeve disposed about the metal inner part, and a yarn clamp having resilient arms within the inner part for engaging a yarn. The metal inner part may be formed with an I-beam cross section or may be of a rectangular cross section with or without a strengthening partition. The metal inner part lends strength to the shuttle, particularly for braking purposes while the plastics sleeve provides a sliding surface for picking.
