A training cartridge has a synthetic resin projectile or dummy projectile wherein the projectile or dummy projectile is integrally molded to a synthetic resin sleeve or tube open at the rear end. The sleeve is inserted from the front end of a cartridge case of metal that is open at its front end. The sleeve is held within the cartridge case by drawing the cartridge case inwards, after insertion of the synthetic resin sleeve, in its frontal zone to form a conical case shoulder and a cylindrical case neck, which shoulder and neck encompass the synthetic resin sleeve in firm contact therewith. This arrangement achieves clean separation of the projectile from the remainder of the synthetic resin sleeve and/or avoids uncontrolled tearing off of parts of the synthetic resin sleeve.

Training cartridge with synthetic resin projectile or dummy projectile

A flash guide tube arrangement utilized primarily in propellant charge igniters for large-caliber ammunition with laterally located openings from which the ignition gases, emitted by conventional ignition systems, exit, either for the ignition of an ignition booster charge or for the direct ignition of a propellant charge. Indentations emanate axially from these openings and extend into the interior of the flash guide tube, the depth of the individual indentations decreasing in the direction toward the rear end of the flash guide tube. The indentations are preferably radially arranged and several of such radially disposed indentations can be provided in the flash guide tube. The rear end of the flash guide tube can furthermore be constructed as a cone having its apex pointing toward the ignition system.

Flash guide tube arrangement for propellant charge igniters

A short range trajectory round having an aerodynamic resistance which sharply increases at a predetermined time after discharge of the round from a barrel of a weapon. The round includes a body having a longitudinal axis and a forward tip portion and a rear base portion with at least one segment forming a part of the body and arranged for outward movement away from the longitudinal axis. The at least one segment at least partially delimits an inner cavity within the body terminating at a predetermined distance from the tip portion, and a plunger having a forward portion and a rearward portion is disposed within the cavity and arranged for movement in the longitudinal direction of the round between at least a rearward position and a forward position. the plunger is movable to the forward position in response to the firing of the round for form-lockingly engaging the at least one segment to prevent movement of the at least one segment away from the longitudinal axis of the round thereby to establish a first aerodynamic resistance for the round. The plunger is also movable toward the rearward position after discharge of the round from the barrel of the weapon for disengaging the at least one segment to enable outward movement of the at least one segment with respect to the longitudinal axis of the round and thereby establish at least a second aerodynamic resistance for the round which is greater than the first aerodynamic resistance.

A propellant charge igniter includes a casing that contains a central contact member, an igniter element, a sealing element associated with the igniter element, and a powder charge. The sealing element has on a side facing the powder charge, an annular collar in sealing contact with an inner wall of the casing.

Propellant charge igniter

A projectile for training ammunition wherein the projectile body is joined at its front end to a dummy detonator. The dummy detonator is constructed as a hollow body and preferably a cap-shaped hollow body.

Projectile for practice ammunition

A projectile with at least one longitudinally extending recess emanating from the rear end of the projectile and a rearwardly open sleeve having at least one pyrotechnical charge arranged therein. The sleeve is disposed within the recess and is arranged to be retained in the recess during and after the firing of the projectile. To enable retention of the sleeve, there is provided a pressure relief of propellant gases in the recess and/or abutments of the projectile and/or holding arrangements provided on the sleeve.

Projectile with at least one pyrotechnical charge, especially a tracer

A sabot projectile including a sabot, a subcaliber projectile and a hood arranged in front of the sabot and surrounding at least a part of the projectile. The hood is coupled to the sabot and/or the projectile and is separable therefrom. The sabot is provided with at least one bore extending in the longitudinal direction and arranged for exposure to propellant gases upon firing of the sabot projectile from the barrel of a weapon and for directing the propellant gases onto the hood for accelerating the hood relative to the projectile while the sabot projectile is within the barrel of the weapon.

Training ammunition for mortars having a projectile disposed in a cartridge case and provided with a propellant charge for being fired from a barrel insert of a dummy shell. An ejector charge is associated with the cartridge case and is provided with an ignition device and is arranged for ejecting the dummy shell together with the cartridge case from the mortar barrel. A flash hole is arranged between the propellant charge and the ejector charge, and an ignition jet conducting tube is disposed coaxially within the ejector charge and extends from the ignition device to the end of the ejector charge facing the flash hole. The ignition jet conducting tube is provided with at least one radial ignition aperture therethrough.

Training ammunition for mortars

A propellant charge igniter has an outer sleeve open at one end, an inner sleeve positioned within the outer sleeve and provided with a closed-end portion adjacent to the one end of said outer sleeve. A closed-end portion of the inner sleeve has predetermined bursting zones and contains a booster propellant charge. The propellant charge igniter is also provided with an expansion ring of a pressure-resistant material of low tensile strength which is arranged adjacent to the one end of the outer sleeve between the outer sleeve and the inner sleeve.

The present invention relates to a propellant charge igniter having a striker element with a rearward cylindrical shank portion extending through the bottom piece of the propellant charge igniter, a forward headpiece following the shank portion and having an enlarged outer diameter with respect to the shank portion, the striker element resting on an annular shoulder formed in the bottom piece and being provided with an annular, separable collar held by means of a counter member extending over the headpiece.

Training ammunition including a projectile disposed in a cartridge case, the projectile having a rear portion with an axially extending recess and a charge disposed therein, a cover cap extending over the rear of the projectile in a formfitting manner, and at least one obturation member disposed proximate to the cover cap, the cover cap having an outer diameter at least equal to and/or slightly greater than the caliber of the projectile.

Training ammunition

Practice device for mortars having a central tube for receiving a subcaliber training ammunition. A locking member is firmly and detachably connected at the rear end of the tube and receives and mounts the subcaliber training ammunition therein. The tube also is arranged to receive thereabout an annular member having a lateral dimension corresponding to a predetermined mortar caliber and a nut member which is secured to the front end with the annular member being positioned between the nut member and the locking member whereby the practice device may be fired from a mortar barrel of the predetermined caliber and may be reused.
