A method operates an electrical treatment device having a user-operable operating switch, and a motor electronics system with a motor control and an electric drive motor. The switch electrically connects to a drive voltage source and the motor electronics system. The motor electronics system electrically connects to the drive motor on an output side via the motor control. The method monitors whether an input voltage at the motor electronics system meets a closed criterion or an open criterion, wherein the closed criterion is characteristic of a closed switching state of the operating switch, and wherein the open criterion is characteristic of an open switching state of the operating switch, and when the open criterion is met, operates the motor control in a state from an open state set that includes a voltage control state for limiting an increase in the input voltage caused by the running-down electric drive motor.

An electronic control unit is configured to operate an electric motor from a rechargeable battery pack. The control unit has a circuit board with electronic components for driving the electric motor. Furthermore, an electrical braking circuit having a braking resistor and also a braking switch is provided. The receiving surface of the circuit board is spatially divided into a first surface region and a second surface region. The first surface region serves to receive electronic components; the second surface region serves to receive the braking resistor, wherein the braking resistor is configured as a conductor track which is formed on the circuit board.

A device registers an On state of a drive motor of a tool. A changing magnetic flux is produced in the On state of the drive motor. First and second peak hold detectors generate upper and lower peak signals from induced voltage output signals. An evaluation device is configured to form a difference from the generated upper peak signal and the generated lower peak signal, and compare the formed difference with an adjustable threshold value in order to determine the On state of the drive motor when the threshold value is reached or exceeded.

A capacitor power supply unit converts a mains voltage (U) into a lower operating voltage (V) for a controller and a supply voltage (V) for an electrical small load. A series circuit including a mains capacitor and a zener diode is connected to the mains voltage (U) whereat the supply voltage (V) for an electrical small load having a permissible operating voltage is tapped off. An electric motor includes an arrangement of windings provided for driving the rotor, with the windings being connected to an energy source to develop torque which drives the rotor. The electric circuits of corresponding ones of the windings each have a potential point, the voltage (U, U) of which is supplied to an evaluation unit via an adaptation device. The adaptation device can be operated in two switchable adaptation stages and is connected to a drive circuit that operates in dependence upon the rotational position of the rotor. The drive circuit switches the adaptation device into the first stage having a high sensitivity or into the second stage having a low sensitivity in dependence upon the rotational position of the rotor of the motor, such that the number of required analog inputs at a microprocessor in the evaluation unit can be kept low.
