A battery includes a number of single cells interconnected in series and/or in parallel, the electrical poles of which for the electrical interconnection are connected to one another in a positive-fit and/or integrally bonded manner, directly or by means of cell connectors. The battery also includes a battery monitoring unit connected to the electrical poles and/or to the cell connectors in a positive-fit and/or integrally bonded manner. The electrical poles of the single cells, the cell connectors, and/or the battery monitoring unit have redundant contact areas for the positive-fit and/or integrally bonded connection. In each case only one of the contact areas which are redundant with one another is connected in a positive-fit and/or integrally bonded manner, and the further contact area(s) is/are not connected.

In an arrangement for holding a first fastening element and a second fastening element on an axle element for an axle of a motor vehicle, in particular of a utility vehicle, the first fastening element arranged on a first side of the axle element and intended to support a spring mechanism of the axle is held on the axle element. The second fastening element is arranged on a second side of the axle element facing away from the first side and is used to support a bracket engaging, at least partially, around the axle element and intended for fastening the spring mechanism on the axle element is held on the axle element. At least one of the fastening elements is joined to the axle element by a welding rivet.

A method for non-releasable fixing of at least one component to a further component is provided in which a hot rivet is introduced into an opening of the at least one first component and an end face of a shank of the hot rivet is welded to a surface of the further component. Subsequently, with plastic deformation of the hot rivet, the shank of the hot rivet is compressed until a head of the hot rivet lies with a pre-stressing force at least in areas on a surface of the at least one component. The pre-stressing force, with which the head of the hot rivet lies at least in areas on the surface of the at least one component, is adjusted to a predefined value.

Method for non-releasable fixing of one component to a further component

For connecting a shaft to a rotating component, especially of a shaft to a turbine wheel of an exhaust gas turbocharger, an intermediate component is provided by means of which the shaft is connected indirectly to the rotating component. The connection between the rotating component and the intermediate component is a form-locking and/or force-locking connection, especially a riveted connection.

The invention relates to a method for the unreleasable fastening of at least one component to a basic component with the aid of a bolt projecting through a bore in the component or components, first the bolt being welded electrically with one end face on the surface of the basic component and subsequently being deformed plastically. So that components consisting of any desired materials can be used, it is proposed, according to the invention, that the shank of the bolt, which has a head, be upset, until the underside of the head lies in regions on the surface of the component. Furthermore, an unreleasable connection of one or more components to a basic component is proposed.

Method for unreleasable fastening

A composite shaft/disc workpiece which is assembled from a disc with a passage hole and from a shaft by friction welding is disclosed. The outer wall of the shaft has a plurality of steps in the connection region with the disc, the radius of the steps becoming larger in a direction of the axis. The passage hole of the disc is provided with webs, the radius of which likewise becomes larger in a direction of the axis and between which annular recesses are present. The webs and steps to be connected overlap in the radial direction, so that, during the welding of the shaft and disc, annular connecting portions are obtained in the region of the webs and steps, annular cavities being formed between the connecting portions. The cavities represent a weight saving, as compared with composite shaft/disc workpices made of solid material, and can also be used as parts of media ducts.

Friction-welded shaft-disc assembly and method for the manufacture thereof

A welded crankshaft having a number of individual elements and cavities formed in the region of the main bearing journals and crank journals. The individual elements are configured so that oil passages in the overlap region between the main bearing journals and crank journals run substantially in the axial direction, and transition via radial orifices directly into the journal surface. The cavities of the main bearing journals and crank journals can be made very large, so that the weight of the crankshaft is kept light. In addition, because of the simple geometry of the oil passages, the crankshaft can be manufactured in modular fashion from the individual elements.

Welded crankshaft

A spot weld joint of a balancing plate on the exterior side of a rotationally symmetrical, rotating hollow body such as a motor vehicle drive shaft. In order to also be able to balance thin-walled hollow bodies in a secure manner with respect to the process, as well as rapidly and durably in the case of different pairings of material of the hollow body and the balancing plate, the weld joint is constructed as an ultrasonic weld. The zone of thermal influence of the weld joint extends from the contact surface between the balancing plate and the hollow body maximally by approximately 0.3 mm, preferably approximately 0.1 to 0.15 mm, into the wall of the hollow body. Expediently, the zone of thermal influence extends deeper into the balancing plate than into the wall of the hollow body. Irrespective of the hollow shaft material--steel, aluminum or plastic--, the balancing plate may consist of a metal of high density, particularly of steel, brass or copper. In the case of fiber-reinforced hollow plastic shafts, the balancing body may also consist of plastic or of a metal strip coated with plastic on the contact side or of a sintered-together metal/plastic composite material.

In an outer shell of a pump impeller of a hydrodynamic torque converter, an axial connecting branch of a hub is joined by friction welding to a bearing sleeve, which exhibits axial driving teeth for driving a recirculating positive-displacement pump. The friction welding apparatus uses a respective receiving fixture for holding the joint parts and a device for machining a weld bead with a tool.

Process and apparatus for cylindrical joint friction welding

A method for the friction welding of parts and a holding device for at least one of the parts during the friction welding are disclosed. For the torsion-proof holding of the part in the holding device, regular positive-connection faces are provided therein. Corresponding positive-connection faces are fashioned in the region of the holding face of the part, such that the part can be retained in the holding device in a positive, torsion-proof manner. So as avoid forming the positive-connection faces located on the parts in a separate operation, these faces are produced only during the execution of the friction welding by utilizing the axial pressing force via an embossing operation carried out by the positive-connection counterfaces formed in the holding device and made cutter-like. For this purpose, the positive-connection faces are arranged in close succession in the form of a ring at an acute angle of less than 45.degree. to the axial force direction, so that they can dig in a force transmitting manner into a peripheral workpiece edge located on the parts.

In the case of a turbine wheel of a hydrodynamic torque converter having a lockup clutch, a radial flange of a hub is connected on its faces, in each case, by means of friction welding, with one radial flange respectively of an outer shell holding turbine blades and of a disk support which non-rotatably holds clutch disks.

A method of producing a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, comprising a cylinder head housing made of an aluminum material and having a base plate fitted into the combustion-chamber-side base wall of the cylinder head housing and made of a highly heat-resistant material. A process for the production of cup tappets for reciprocating-piston machines having a pressure plate made from wear-resistant alloyed tool steel and a cup casing, welded to the pressure plate, and made from cheap and cold-extrudable steel utilizes a friction welding process to weld the two parts to one another in a crack-free manner. The cup casing blank is produced by the cold-extrusion process and is carbonized before the welding so that good welding results can thereby be achieved despite the considerable strength differences and cross-sectional differences between the pressure plate and cup casing blanks. As a result of a preheating of the pressure plate, an impairment of the cup casing blank during the frictional heating can be compensated and cracks in the workpiece during or immediately after the welding can thereby be avoided. The pressure plate blank can be designed as a flat round which can be produced by stamping and which projects radially to a pronounced extent relative to the cup casing blank, so that it can be tensioned in an overhand region during the friction welding. The outer overhang containing possible cracks is removed in a subsequent chip-removing, preferably grinding operation.
