Apparatus and a process for use in aeration of a fluid. The apparatus includes a tubular drive shaft having a first end and a second end. The first end is coupled to a selectively rotatable power source. A compressed air source is in fluid communication with the tubular drive shaft. A first propeller having a propeller shaft is coupled to the second end of the tubular drive shaft. An atomizing mechanism is located proximate the propeller shaft. The apparatus may further include a second propeller having a propeller shaft positioned between the first propeller and the second end of the tubular drive shaft. In another mode of operation, the aerator may be used solely as a mixer in an nitrification/de-nitrification process without the introduction of outside air or compressed air.

Method of treating waste water

Apparatus for use in aeration of a fluid. The apparatus includes a power unit having a rotatable shaft. An impeller is coupled to the shaft. The impeller has a blade with a generally uniform outside diameter. A diffuser head is positioned proximate the impeller. The impeller may be a screw impeller. The diffuser head may be a stepped diffuser head.

A diaphragm pump includes upper and lower pump bodies clamping a diaphragm therebetween which separates a driving fluid chamber in the upper body from a pump chamber in the lower body, each body having gripping ridges surrounding the chamber; a driving fluid reservoir in the upper pump body; an outlet check valve having a seat, a closure member and a spring to urge its closure; drive means for alternately pressure loading and unloading the driving fluid chamber; a diaphragm having a central body portion connected to an annular clamping portion by annular webbing; a protruding annular rib inside of the ridges, and sized to bite into the diaphragm before the ridges when the bodies are clamped together; means for adjusting the size of an opening between the driving fluid reservoir and the driving fluid chamber; means for adjusting the distance that the closure member can move away from the seat; a piston assembly including piston received within a cylinder having an upwardly facing sealing surface and adapted to be complementarily received with the upwardly facing sealing surface engaging a downwardly facing sealing surface of the upper pump body, a seal positioned between the two sealing surfaces, and adjustable securement means between the pump body and the cylinder for compressing the seal between the sealing surfaces.

Diaphragm pump

A pressure unloading valve responsive primarily to the pressure of the outlet passage in a diaphragm pump. The pump includes a driving fluid chamber and a pump chamber separated by a flexible diaphragm. Between the pump chamber and the outlet passage is a check valve allowing fluid flow only from the pump chamber to the outlet passage. The unloader valve is unseated, allowing relief of fluid pressure in the driving fluid chamber, when the pressure in the outlet passage exceeds a first predetermined value or when the pressure in the driving fluid chamber exceeds a second predetermined value. An adjustment knob is provided to vary the first and second predetermined values. An anti-blow-by seal is provided to check fluid seepage from the driving fluid chamber to the sump.

Airless sprayer with adjustable pressure unloading valve

A liquid applicator and scraper for applying a protective thin film of hardenable wax to glass during painting so that the surrounding area can be painted and the protective coating subsequently removed has a liquid container with a valve assembly for discharging the liquid to a sponge upon the application of pressure to the sponge, a blade unit which fits over the portion of the liquid container on which the sponge is mounted, the blade unit having a scraper blade affixed therein for removing the protective coating of wax after painting, and a cap for covering the portion of the blade unit in which the blade is affixed. The cap, the blade unit, and the liquid container, when assembled, form a single applicator and scraper unit with all components contained in one assembly.

Liquid applicator with scraper and method of use

A pressurized paint supply system for delivering paint or other coating material under pressure to a variety of interchangeable paint applicators. The invention is also concerned with an improved pad assembly for trimming purposes and to an improved pressure-tight joint which can be used with any of the accessories used in the system of the present invention.

A paint roller assembly for a pressurized paint supply system including a hollow roller arm, a delivery tube within the roller arm for receiving pressurized coating material such as paint therethrough, the tube terminating in a horizontally disposed end portion, a circular flange mechanically coupled to the roller arm inwardly of the end portion to prevent relative rotation therebetween, an annular sealing member received over the end portion and arranged to abut the circular flange while permitting relative rotational movement therebetween, a cylindrical roller core having one end received on the end portion, the core having an axially extending relatively shallow groove at its periphery along a major portion of its length, the roller core being recessed at the discharge end of the end portion to provide a sump therein of greater depth than the groove and communicating with the groove. Distributor means are positioned in the groove and have spaced apertures therealong to permit paint to flow from the groove into a perforated paint roller cover positioned over the roller core.

Paint roller feeder

A pressure vessel for storing and delivering liquid under pressure which includes a housing, a removable cover on the housing, and a seal between the housing and the cover providing a liquid-tight and air-tight seal. Locking elements cooperate between the cover and the housing to provide a bayonet type lock therebetween. The vessel is provided with a manually unlockable excess pressure valve in the cover, the valve having a seating face arranged to be seated against a valve seat and the cover and a spring which urges the valve seating face into such seated relation. The structure is also provided for locking the valve seating face in unseated relation against the action of the spring means.

Pressure vessel for receiving liquids

A compact portable, easily operated, paint applying apparatus has a frame adapted to rest on the ground, a lifting handle on the frame for ease in carrying to use locations, a paint reservoir removably supported in upright position on the frame, an electric motor driven paint pump mounted on the frame above the reservoir, an intake tube depending from said pump into the reservoir, a discharge tube extending from the pump, and a paint applicator supplied by the discharge tube. The frame is preferably L-shaped with a bottom horizontal leg provided a sturdy base and an upright vertical leg. The horizontal leg has a well receiving the paint reservoir, the vertical leg has a recess receiving the rear end of a housing in which a reciprocal electric motor is mounted. The front end of the motor housing mounts a pump housing with a depending intake coupling directly over the paint reservoir on the horizontal base and an outlet coupling on the front end thereof. The intake coupling is attached to a short tube extending to the bottom of the reservoir while the outlet coupling is attached to a flexible hose or tube leading to the end of a handle with a trigger operated valve discharging into a wand which feeds the paint applying device such as a paint roller or a spray head discharging onto the roller.

Device for applying paint with reciprocating linear motor

A paint dispensing system including a pressure-tight container for holding paint under pressure, the container having spaced vents along a base portion thereof, a resilient securing means on the container in spaced relation to the vents, and a trough having a pair of spaced tabs extending therefrom and proportioned to be received in the vents to hold the trough in a generally horizontal position. The trough serves as a receptacle for a paint roller comprising a handle and a paint roller assembly detachably secured to the handle, the handle being insertable into the resilient securing means to hold the paint roller suspended above the trough.

Fluid pump housing

A combination airless paint pump and air compressor wherein a prime mover drives an eccentric cam wheel within an oil reservoir housing. A piston, movably received within a housing bore is engageable with a periphery of the cam wheel to load an hydraulic column open to the piston cylinder for oscillating a paint spray pump diaphragm. A second piston member, received in a bore open to the housing, is engageable with the periphery of the cam wheel spaced circumferentially of the paint pump piston. The second piston is operatively connected with an air pump diaphragm. Selector means are provided to disengage, selectively, either one of the pistons from contact with the cam wheel whereby the unit can operate in a paint only mode, an air only mode or a combination air and paint mode.

Air compressor for paint pumps

An airless hydraulic diaphragm paint pump having a pumping chamber subdivided by a diaphragm into pumping fluid and pump fluid subchambers with an inlet from a pump fluids storage and an outlet to a pumped fluid utilizer such as a paint spray gun. A bypass port is provided for returning pumped fluid to the source at a low pressure. A pressure release valve in communication with both the outlet and the bypass port is effective to allow bypassing the pumped fluid directly back to the source and to bleed the line between the pumped fluid utilizer and the pump. The valve is actuated by a solenoid actuator and is opened when the pump drive is terminated or manually or in the event of an excessive high pressure.
