A sanitary basin molded part, for example a kitchen sink, a washbasin or a shower tray, has a main part () that has the shape of the sanitary basin molded part and ensures its mechanical stability. On the visible side of the sanitary basin molded part a covering layer () is arranged in at least one surface region on top of the main part (). The covering layer includes a fibrous tissue () saturated with a cured binding agent. A method produces a sanitary basin molded part of this kind.

A basin molding (), for example a kitchen sink, a washbasin or the like, is made of a composite material having a polymerized cured binder () and fillers (). The basin molding () has a visible side () and a rear side (), which is located opposite the visible side (). Unidirectionally oriented fibers () are polymerized into the composite material on, or in the vicinity of, the surface of the rear side () of the basin molding (). A cast-molded article in a composite material comprising a cured polymeric binder incorporating embedded particles of filler, characterized in that the binder incorporates randomly distributed fibers of polyamide, wherein the fibers have a length of 5-20 mm and a diameter of 0.05-0.2 mm and the fibers comprise 0.02-0.5 wt % based on the overall mass of the cast-molded article.

A molded article, such as, a kitchen sink, a wash basin, a work surface, or the like, is produced from a composite material comprising a cured polymer binder and filler particles by molding. The surface of a visible face of the molded article, that is substantially horizontal when the molded article is in use, exhibits irregularities formed by pores. More than 30% and less than 90%, in particular more than 40% and less than 80%, and preferably more than 50% and less than 65% of the surface of the visible face is formed by pores with an average width of more than 0.1 mm and less than 1 mm, an average depth of more than 10 &#x3bc;m and less than 50 &#x3bc;m, and the average ratio of depth to width of the pores of more than 1:4 and less than 1:30.

Molded article and method for producing a molded article

A molded plastic body is produced from a cured reaction mixture. The reaction mixture is pourable in a non-cured state and includes 50 to 90% by weight, based on the reaction mixture, of an inorganic particulate filler, a crosslinking agent, and 10 to 50% by weight, based on the reaction mixture, of a binder solution. The binder solution includes a monomer and a polymer dissolved in it. The molded plastic body is characterized in that the percentage of the crosslinking agent admixed with the binder solution is more than 10% by weight based on the percentage of the monomer in the binder solution. The invention also relates to a method for producing the molded plastic body.

With an integral, board-like component, in particular for use as a kitchen working surface, comprising a visible side and a rear side, wherein the visible side comprises a layer consisting of a polymer matrix filled with a first, inorganic filler, its specific density being greater than the specific density of the polymer matrix, it is suggested for the production of the boards in a simple manner and with a good planarity that the filler content of the first filler in the visible side layer be 50 to 90% by volume, that the rear side comprise a layer which is formed from a polymer matrix filled with a second inorganic filler, wherein the proportion of the polymer matrix in this layer in % by volume differs quantitatively by 20% at the most from the volume content of the polymer matrix in the visible side layer and wherein the specific density of the second filler is &lE;0.6 g/cm,.

Integral, board-like component and process for its production

To improve the resistance to scratching of plastic molded articles comprising a polymer matrix filled with inorganic fillers, the filler content being 50 to 90% by weight in relation to the filled matrix, it is suggested that the filler comprise two filler fractions (a) and (b), wherein the filler fraction (a) has a particle size distribution with 98% by weight of the particles having a particle size .ltoreq.150 .mu.m and is distributed essentially uniformly in the polymer matrix, and wherein the filler fraction (b) comprises particles having a particle size of approximately 300 .mu.m to approximately 3000 .mu.m, wherein the proportion of the filler fraction (b) is approximately 1 to 35% by weight of the total filler content, and wherein the proportion of the filler fraction (b) in an outer surface layer of the molded article is enriched to at least 30% by weight in relation to the total mass of the filled matrix.

In a casting composition comprising a curable syrup which contains a liquid monomer and polymer components optionally dissolved therein, and an inorganic filler which includes a quartz sand product, in order to simplify the production of white molded articles, it is proposed that a product, the individual grain of which consists in the core essentially of quartz and at the surface essentially of .alpha.-cristobalite (low-temperature modification) be selected as quartz sand product.
