Certain organic compounds derived from urea or thio-urea having insectical activity and methods of their preparation are disclosed. The compounds according to the invention have been found to interfere with the mechanism of metamorphoses which occurs in insects. Hence, the substances according to the invention are specifically active against insects. Owing to this specificity and because of the absence of phytotoxicity effects, the compounds of this invention are of prime importance.

Insecticidal Ureas and thioureas

Certain organic compounds derived from urea or thiourea having insectical activity and methods of their preparation are disclosed. The compounds according to the invention have been found to interfere with the mechanism of metamorphoses which occurs in insects. Hence the substances according to the invention are specifically active against insects. Owing to this specificity and because of the absence of phytotoxicity effects, the compounds of this invention are of prime importance.

Insecticidal use of ureas and thioureas

The invention relates to novel 1,3,4-substituted-.DELTA..sup.2 -pyrazolines having an insecticidal activity. The compounds are particularly active against larvae of insects for example larvae of Colorado beetle, cabbage white butterfly and yellow-fever mosquito. On the basis of their activity, the compounds, after having been processed to the usual composition, may be used in controlling insects, particularly in the field of agriculture and horticulture. The dosage is 0.05 -1 kg of the active substance per hectare.

Insecticidal 2,6-dihalobenzoyl urea derivatives

The invention relates to new 1,3,4-substituted .DELTA..sup.2 -pyrazolines having an insecticidal activity. The compounds are active in particular against larvae of insects such as larvae of colorado beetle, cabbage butterfly and yellow-fever mosquito. On the basis of their activity the compounds, after having been processed to the usual compositions, may be used in controlling insects, in particular in the field of agriculture and horticulture. The dosage is 0.05-1 kg of the active substance per hectare. A most active compound is the substance 1-(4-chlorophenylcarbamoyl)-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-phenyl-.DELTA..sup.2 -pyrazoline.

Pyrazoline compounds

Benzoyl phenyl urea or thiourea derivatives are used as active substances in insecticidal compositions.

Insecticidal N-(2,6-dichlorobenzoyl)-N'-(4-cyanophenyl) urea

It has been found that novel pyrazoline compounds have a strong and specific biocidal activity against arthropods and especially insects. In addition to their more direct biocidal activity the novel compounds influence the pattern of motion of arthropods, which results in uncoordinated movements. A highly active substance is, for example, 1-(4-chlorophenylcarbamoyl)-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-(4-isopropoxyphenyl)-.DEL TA..sup.2 -pyrazoline. After the substances have been worked up into preparations they can be used for controlling arthropods and especially insects which are pests in agriculture and horticulture and in industrial products.
