An air intake system for intake air of an internal combustion engine comprising a filter insert ( ) in a housing ( ) connected to the air conducting system by a plurality of inlets ( ) and an outlet ( ). The air inlets are provided with individual intake nozzles or fittings and lead to a single common air chamber ( ) in the filter housing. The inlets ( ) can be individually opened and closed by flap valves ( ), thereby allowing the acoustics to be influenced favorably and enabling, for example, the respective intake fittings to be connected or disconnected depending on the temperature. The intake system requires only a limited number of components, and the design of the preferably wedge-shaped air chamber minimizes flow losses in the housing, which in turn decreases the intake noise. Shunt resonators ( ) can also be formed using cover elements ( ) and ( ).

Air intake system with an air filter

A duct system suitable for use as an intake manifold for an internal combustion engine, including flap valves ( ) for selective opening and closing of the ducts. The positions of the valves are continuously adjustable in order to produce a swirl in the flow of combustion air. To achieve this, a high degree of angular precision is required in the positioning of the valves. Intake manifold manufacturing tolerances need to be compensated during assembly of the valves. A valve adjusting mechanism is provided in mechanical couplings ( ) of the valve linkage between the position adjusting motor ( ) and the flap valves ( ).

Port system, especially an induction manifold for an internal combustion engine

A duct system, especially an intake manifold for an internal combustion engine, having flap valves ( ) for selective opening and closing of at least some of the ducts. The valves should be continuously adjustable in position in order to produce a swirl in the combustion airflow. To achieve this a high degree of angular precision is required in the positioning of the valves. Intake manifold manufacturing tolerances need to be compensated during assembly of the valves. Valve adjusting mechanisms are provided on the axles of the valves or in the mechanical connections of the valve gear pertaining to the valve drive mechanism.

An adjustable intake pipe, especially for supplying combustion air to an internal combustion engine, which includes a collector chamber arranged in an essentially cylindrical control element. The collector chamber has a larger volume than required for the air supply, so the chamber is not used efficiently. In the invention, the collector chamber volume is used by arranging additional components of the intake tract defined by the intake pipe, i.e. of an internal combustion engine, within the collector chamber (11), for example, by arranging a resonance chamber (20) therein with the resonance chamber connected to the air supply system by through holes (19). This arrangement better utilizes the chamber volume and is particularly advantageous in motor vehicle engine compartments where limited space is available. The intake system also is more compact and has a lower overall weight.

Adjustable intake pipe

An air intake device for an internal combustion engine, in which the device includes at least one collecting vessel ( ) as well as a plurality of intake ducts which extend separately toward different cylinders in the engine. The intake ducts extend into the collecting vessel and are formed from a flexible tube ( ), such as a synthetic resin tube.

Air suction device for internal combustion engine

A tubing coupling and a method for connecting tubing sections in which one tubing section is placed upon another tubing section in an overlapping manner. The first tubing section ( ) is enlarged in the cold state in the area ( ) where it overlaps, and the enlarged area is then placed over the second tubing section ( ). Subsequent heating of the enlarged area ( ) results in shrinkage of the first tubing section ( ) which produces a firm seating of the first tubing section ( ), for example a plastic suction tube as an air inlet tube, on the second tubing section ( ), for example a flange for attachment to the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine.

Tubing coupling and a method for producing the same

An induction device for an internal combustion engine with an intake pipe having dimensions which can be varied within predetermined limits. The intake pipe is made up of at least one resonance pipe (R) coupled via a resonance volume ( ) with at least one ram pipe (S) leading to an inlet of a respective cylinder of the engine. A supercharging of the resonance pipe and/or the ram pipe can be realized in the entire intake pipe, and the dimensions of resonance pipes (R) and the ram pipes (S) can be continuously varied within predetermined limits.

Induction device for an internal combustion engine

An air intake device for an internal combustion engine which includes at least one collection manifold and intake ducts branching off separately to individual cylinders of the internal combustion engine. The intake lines extend to the collection manifold and are formed at least partially of a flexible tube, especially a rubber tube. The intake lines furthermore have stiff or variable-length portions which are divided into at least two segments disposed for movement independently of one another.

Air intake device

The invention relates to an intake pipe for the intake air of an internal combustion engine. The intake pipe comprises a shift drum which provides continuous adjustment of the intake pipe length. The intake pipe comprises a housing constructed of individual disks which are joined in a sealing manner via ring grooves. The shift drum is preferably made of regulator disks so that it can be assembled without difficulty by alternately sliding a housing disk and a regulator disk on to the drive shaft. The intake channels are sealed by means of sealing lips which are joined to the regulator disks, for example by injection, and are axially supported on annular ribs forming part of the housing disks. This makes it possible to compensate for the tolerances of all of the components. Apart form being easier to assemble, an intake pipe constructed in the above manner also has a lower weight since no inserts are required to configure and seal the individual intake channels.

Intake pipe with shift drum

The invention concerns an intake system, in particular an intake pipe of thermoplastic plastics for the intake air of an internal combustion engine with in particular cylinder rows arranged in a V-shape. The intake system comprises at least two elements (,), the first element (,) having a substantially closed shape and simultaneously forming the lower half-shell of the intake pipes. The second element (,) is designed as the upper half-shell of the intake pipes and is connected to the first element (,) by the plastics welding technique.
