A pressing tool for plastically deforming a workpiece is described. The pressing tool includes a housing and an electric motor for actuating the pressing tool. The pressing tool also includes an instrument seat which is adapted to receive an interchangeable instrument head at the housing. The pressing tool also includes a mechanical safety element which is arranged in a manner that is movable from an open position, in which an instrument head may be inserted into the instrument seat, into a closed position, in which the instrument head is locked in the instrument seat. The pressing tool additionally includes a mechanical actuating element which may interact with the safety element in order to be able to cause the pressing tool to be enabled for a pressing process.

A pressing tool for plastically deforming a tubular workpiece, and particularly a fitting is described. The pressing tool comprises pressing jaws, a drive adapted to drive the pressing jaws in order to apply a force to the workpiece, a sensor system which is adapted to record a set of pressing data during a pressing process and a control which is adapted to control the drive based on the recorded set of pressing data. A pressing tool for pressing workpieces is described. The pressing tool comprises a hydraulic pump for conveying a hydraulic fluid, an electric motor for driving the hydraulic pump, a working cylinder which is hydraulically connected to an outlet of the hydraulic pump, a pressure-relief valve which is hydraulically connected to the outlet of the hydraulic pump and which opens at a certain predefined pressure Pof the hydraulic fluid, an electronic control for controlling the electric motor and a sensorwhich monitors the state of the pressure-relief valve and emits a signal which describes the state of the pressure-relief valve to the electronic control. Furthermore, a method of operating such a pressing tool is described.

A pressing tool for plastically deforming a tubular workpiece, and particularly a fitting is described. The pressing tool comprises a pressing jaw receptacle for coupling a pressing jaw assembly to the pressing tool. The pressing tool further comprises a drive which is adapted to drive a coupled pressing jaw assembly in order to apply force to a workpiece, and a sensor system which is adapted to identify a pressing jaw assembly and to provide corresponding sensor data, wherein a control is adapted to control the drive based on the sensor data. Systems and methods are described for governing and monitoring operations of tools. The systems include a registration and control computer, one or more mobile devices, and one or more tools. The tools include electronic locking provisions which upon activation selectively enable tool operation.

Systems for monitoring aspects of tool use

A pressing machine is described for plastically deforming a tubular workpiece, in particular a fitting. The pressing machine has a motor, and pressing jaws which are driven by the motor and can apply a force to the workpiece during operation. The pressing machine also has a power transmission unit coupled to the motor and the pressing jaws for transmitting power from the motor to the pressing jaws. The pressing machine also has at least one sensor unit for measuring at least one pressing parameter P and a controller which receives the currently measured value of the pressing parameter P from the sensor unit and determines therewith the pitch or slope of a press parameter curve K of the press parameter P. The controller terminates a pressing operation before reaching a maximum possible pressing force Pmax when the pitch or slope of the press parameter curve K of the press parameter P satisfies a shutdown criterion. Also described is a corresponding method for operating a pressing machine.

A pressing tool is described for plastically deforming a workpiece. The pressing tool comprises a piston pump driven by a motor that rotates in operating rotation direction RA and a pressure release valve and a coupling arrangement, which mechanically couples the motor to the pressure relief valve, so that the motor opens the pressure relief valve when operated in a loosening rotation direction RL opposite to the operating rotation direction RA. Also described is a corresponding method of operating a pressing tool.

A coupling is described for connecting an interchangeable tool head to a machine part of a pressing device. The machine part features a receptacle region (A) for accommodating a shaft section of an interchangeable tool head, which can be axially displaced in the receptacle region (A), and the shaft section comprises an end face (S) and at least two engaging elements. The at least two holding elements are arranged in the receptacle region (A) and a guide groove is respectively formed between two adjacent holding elements. Also described are tools such as pressing devices utilizing the couplings and related methods.

Electronic tool unlocking system

A hand-held hydraulic assembly includes a work tool having a hydraulic cylinder or main body, a ram piston disposed in the hydraulic main body and a spring or other biasing member mounted on the ram piston. An interchangeable work head is selectively engaged to the ram piston of the work tool. The ram piston is axially displaceable in the main body for actuating the work head. A quick release coupling mounted to the work tool releasably connects the interchangeable work head to the work tool.
