In order to produce a variable valve lift device for the lift adjustment of the gas-exchange valves of an internal combustion engine, by means of which with adjustment forces and holding forces, independently from whether said holding forces and adjustment forces are applied mechanically, hydraulically or electrically, with an adjustment of the valve lift being as cost-effective as possible, and with maximum accuracy of the adjustment or control of the valve lift to be taken between the individual cylinders of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, and, moreover, the adjustment possibility of the valve lift of the valves of an internal combustion engine with several cylinders is obtained within smallest tolerances, it is suggested that a valve lift device () has a rotatable eccentric shaft (), which consists of several eccentrics () and whereby all possible contours of the eccentrics () are positioned within a circle, which is formed by means of the external diameters of a bearing () of the eccentric shaft ().

A valve-lift device for the variable control of gas-exchange valves of an internal combustion engine is provided. The device includes a pivotable lever that is capable of being driven by a camshaft, the pivotable lever having an axis of rotation which can be displaced in a slotted-link track fixed to the housing, and a valve actuation means. The pivotable lever has, at one end, a roller which is driven by a camshaft and, at its other end, a slotted-link roller which is moved along a working curve in a slotted link, the slotted link being designed as an engagement surface of a valve actuation means. A center of rotation of the lever is provided between the roller and the slotted-link roller and the center of rotation of the rocker lever and a supporting axis of the valve actuation means is arranged on a vertical axis in an operating position. In order to set a valve lift, an axis of rotation is displaced in a slotted-link track fixed to the housing.

A cylinder block and crankcase for a liquid-cooled internal-combustion engine is to be constructed by composite casting, a magnesium case being cast around an aluminum power unit block. Valve operating device for variable stroke adjustment of a charge exchange valve of an internal combustion engine

A method of producing a metal component interacting by way of a sliding surface with a friction partner, for a drive assembly, includes forming the component from an aluminum-silicon-copper-magnesium alloy. The alloy has 12-15 wt. % silicon, 2.5-3.5 wt. % copper, and 0.4-0.8 wt. % magnesium. The particle size for the silicon is between 4 &mgr;m and 30 &mgr;m. The sliding surface of the component in the firm condition is compressed by calibrating.
