Process for cleaning rolling oils which, when contaminated, contain rolling fines originating from metals being processed into semi-finished products in strip form, in particular light weight metals, e.g. aluminum fines. An addition of 2 to 8 g of dimeric oleic acid is made to each 1000 g of contaminated oil and the mixture passed through a coagulator whereby the rolling fines coagulate and can be readily removed from the contaminated oil. The purified oil can be recirculated as rolling oil.

Process for cleaning rolling oils

A capacitor foil made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy whose edge has been treated using a LASER beam exhibits practically no burrs or cracks, as a result of which an increase in the nominal field strength of capacitors made with such a foil becomes possible. A further increase in the nominal field strength is achieved by creating at least one edge with a LASER beam which is enclosed in a reactive gas or gas mixture having a concentration of oxygen greater than the concentration of oxygen in air.

Capacitor foil of aluminum or an aluminum alloy

A hydraulic fluid which contains 100 parts by weight of polyisobutylene, 3 to 15 parts by weight of butylstearate and 0.5 to 5 parts by weight of palm seed oil. It shows good compatibility with newly rolled aluminum surfaces and is therefore particularly suitable for feeding hydrostatic means of supporting rolls for roll-forming aluminum and aluminum alloys.

Hydraulic fluid

1000 Parts by weight of oil-in-water emulsion contain 10-70 parts by weight of palm kernel oil as reaction layer former, 5-20 parts by weight of poly-ethoxylated sorbitanoleate as emulsifier, 5-25 parts by weight of unsaturated, long chain monocarboxylic acids as inhibitor against hydrogen embrittlement and rusting, 1-25 parts by weight hexamethylenetetramine as stabilizer, fungicide and bactericide, rest deionized water. The emulsion is particularly suitable for cold rolling aluminum and aluminum alloys. The rolled strip materials exhibit excellent surface quality also after high reductions per pass.

Oil-in-water emulsion for cold rolling light metals

The oil-in-water emulsion contains, besides the usual components, xylitol and sorbitol to inhibit water staining. The inhibitor is fully effective even when 1000 parts by weight of the emulsion contain only 1-30 parts by weight each of xylitol and sorbitol. By making this addition of inhibitor the reaction of the water phase with the metal surface freshly created by rolling is to a large degree eliminated and with that also the elimination of the formation of undesirable water stains on the surface of the strip.

On degrease annealing of thin strip and foil made of aluminum and aluminum alloys in an annealing furnace ozone is introduced into the furnace atmosphere. As a result of this the annealing time can be shortened or the annealing temperature lowered. Likewise the tendency for the foil to stick together when in coiled form is markedly reduced.

Lubrication oils used in rolling strip and foil in the light metal industing are contaminated with fine metallic particles during rolling. The process described here allows these oils to be cleaned either continuously or in a batch process by adding a strongly alkaline solution to the warm contaminated oil whereby these fine particles coagulate and can be separated out by means of centrifuging or filtering.

Process for cleaning rolling lubricant

A lubricant for metal strip, in particular metal strip made of aluminum or aluminum alloy, and used for packaging purposes, in particular for packaging foodstuffs. The lubricant contains the aluminum or magnesium salt of a saturated C.sub.11 to C.sub.19 monocarboxylic acid as its main constituent. The lubricant also contains a dispersing agent.

Lubricant for metal strip

A synthetic bearing lubricant prevents wear even under very high loads and is such that when it contaminates the rolling lubricant the rolled product is not stained. The bearing lubricant contains poly-isobutene, at least one ester of a C.sub.2 to C.sub.5 alcohol with an .alpha.-hydroxy-mono carboxylic acid or an .alpha.-hydroxy-dicarboxylic acid, and at least single or poly unsaturated C.sub.13 to C.sub.19 carboxylic acid.

Synthetic bearing lubricant

The invention concerns an oil-in-water emulsion suitable for the cold rolling of light metals. The emulsion comprises from about 1 to about 5% by weight alkyl monocarboxylic acid ester, from about 0.5 to about 7% by weight polybutene, from about 0.5 to about 2% by weight polyethoxylated sorbitan oleate, from about 0.5 to about 2.5% by weight unsaturated long-chain alkyl monocarboxylic acid and from about 0.1 to about 2.5% by weight of hexamethylenetetramine in the oil phase, in deionized water.
