When the back of the movable front seat of a motor vehicle is folded down, and at the same time a door is opened for entering into the rear seat portion of the passenger compartment, the front seat is caused by a positioning system to move to a forward position. When the door in question is closed or when the front seat back is restored to normal position, whichever occurs first, the seat is caused to return to its original position. This convenience for entrance into or exit from the rear seat is combined into a positioning system for the front seat, which can also serve for other automatic adjustments.

A logic circuit (34) is provided for preventing the application of energizing voltage to a positioning motor in the case of a circuit failure in the drivers stage of a control system. An equality gate provides a signal to each AND gate corresponding to a failure detection criterion whenever signals of the same level are present at the respective transistors controlling operation of the motor into opposite directions. At one AND gate a signal is provided if either of the transistors is conducting, indicating a failure if there is no control signal. At the other AND gate a signal is provided if either terminal of the motor is connected to energizing potential, likewise indicating a failure if no control signal at a transistor input is present. If either AND gate responds the equivalent of a control signal is applied to a pair of diodes to both of the transistor inputs, thereby blocking the motor.

Safety interlock for an electric positioning system

A fully reclinable front seat of a vehicle in which one positioning motor controls seat back inclination, and another controls forward and back shifting of the seat, is prevented from malfunction resulting from interference with the rear seat by blocking downward movement of the seat back beyond 30.degree. until the seat has moved fully forward, and by blocking longitudinal movement of the front seat while the seat back is rising and has not yet reached 30.degree. inclination.

Automatic positioning system for fully reclining vehicle seats

A brush holder assembly is designed so as to be prefabricated in automatic assembly machines. All the components of the assembly are located on a single side of an insulated carrier plate. The components are connected together by means of electrically conductive grommets which are fixed in the carrier plate. A vibration-resistant holder assembly is thus formed which can be assembled with less cost than other such assemblies which require hand labor.

Prefabricated brush holder assembly for use in small electric motors

A constant current source is provided for the energizing circuit of an electromotor driving a blower. The constant current source includes a battery connected in parallel with a series circuit including the energizing circuit of the motor, the emitter-collector circuit of a transistor and a control resistance. The transistor and control resistance are part of the constant current source. The base of the transistor is connected to the output of a differential amplifier the first input of which receives a reference voltage while the second input receives a voltage corresponding to the voltage across the control resistance and thus the energizing current. The reference voltage is derived from a potentiometer connected in parallel with the battery.
